Vegas...

Well, Risa and I returned from Vegas yesterday afternoon.  I was very sad to come home, but my body needed it.  We actually could have been many places and had an equally good time.  The company is what made it great.  We got to stay in a very nice timeshare with a few pools and hot tubs.  One of the pools is a "lazy river" pool where it has a current and takes you around in a kind of circle.  Risa and I rented inner tubes and floated around and it was quite nice.  It was really freakin' hot there though and I don't know that I could ever live there for that reason.

I'm just gonna hit some of my highpoints in a kind of stream of consciousness style.

We got to have dinner at a really nice restaurant called Piero's and they are anything but skimpy on the booze.  I ordered a gin and tonic and I think the just whispered the word "tonic" while in the same room as the gin they put in my glass.  I actually had to have them put more tonic in.  We ended up making it there two separate nights.  It was nice to have good food a couple of times.

I lost track of how much beer I consumed.  It was kind of retarded and for the most part made faire look like bible camp when comparing beer consumption.  We had a keg of newcastle, harp, jeremiah red (from BJs) and Blackthorn Cider.  We also had a crapload of other non-beer booze.

I got to play a couple Hold'em games.  The first was no money and I lost miserably, but so did Tim, who is pretty much the best player we had there.  The second game was 6 of us with a $20 buy in and we did it Tourney style, winner take all.  It lasted so long and finally, Tim and I realized we were the only two left and had an equal amount of chips and just decided to split the pot.  It left me wanting to play again, but we didn't have another opportunity.

Many of the people there were gamers so we all tried out Guild Wars.  For those of you that don't have a clue, you are lucky.  For those of you that do know, I'm sorry.  We had a good time playing and leveling up and generally just geeking out.  I love that once you buy the game you don't have any monthly costs.  That is huge.

Right after Risa and I arrived we got to go for a massage just down the street.  It started with an aromatherapy bath and then an hour long massage.  This was a rare treat for me, since I almost never get a massage.  I must have more.

Now, for the ultimate highlight of the weekend.  I got to go shooting, but not just any shooting.  It was what I got to shoot.  I got to shot an H&K MP5.  For those of you that are not familiar, it is the machine gun carried by Navy SEALs.  I have wanted to shoot one for quite some time and let me tell you.  It is a real joy.  It doesn't kick too much and it is fairly accurate.  Of course, I don't have any other machine guns that I have shot.  Now I'm sure that some people reading this have been in the military and have fired machine guns.  I have not and now for that reason alone I'm a little sorry I didn't join up at 18.  I think every trip to vegas may have to have a trip to that gun range just to shoot the MP5.  I also fired a Beretta 9m, but it wasn't the same.  Still fun, but didn't compare.  BTW, my groupings with the MP5 were pretty darned good, but it was only at 7m.  My groupings with the Beretta were good at 7m.  There were not many "groupings" at 15m with the Beretta, but I still would have killed someone many times over if I had shot them.

I think that about covers the weekend.
