Pretty much every girl I know is so pathetically dependent on male attention, they rather suffer than go without. I don't understand it, and even more so, I don't understand why I'm not

I was never one of those girls. I think it's growing and becoming a strong, independent woman to not be dependent on male attention.

I do now feel a need for attention from J sometimes, but he's also my husband, so it's built up for a while :)

Don't be worried. It's good to not be dependent on anyone else, especially when you're young and out on your own.
