Oy...
What you need to know about my family:
I love them all
They are all crazy
Some are more crazy than others...for instance...
*My Aunt Judy thinks she knows everything about anything and always has to put in her two cents worth.
*My Cousin is 15, 280lbs (not muscle), has the mentality of a 10 year old girl, lives in a video game reality, worships his wacked out mother, and has no real friends.
-moving on-
So we flew out to Las Vegas on the 23rd:
^saw ONE Elvis impersonator...the only one I would see while I was in Vegas...and I didn't get a picture with him!!!!! AH!!!!! :( So I still have something to go back to Vegas for.
^went to the Blue Man Group show at the Luxor (SO EFFING RAD), I got one of the guys to kiss my ticket :D
^dad gambled in the Aladdin (our hotel) until like 3am
^my uncle won about $1,000 at one of the slot machines (it turned out to be about $500 in winnings after you factor out the money they spent gambling)
Did some shopping after check-out on the 24th:
^got some shot glasses and magnet for some friends
^Corey's little sister told me to get her something from Vegas, so I did - a cute trucker hat and some dice with her name on them
^my aunt (the annoying one) flew in and dad and my uncle went to pick her up at the airport
^had some really yummy Italian ice (Romeo and Juliet flavor...basically cream with chocolate chunks)
^went to the GINORMOUS M&M store and made some bags of peanut M&Ms
^met up with the boys and aunt Judy at the New York New York where we went to the oxygen bar (This thing is so awesome...they put a nasal thingy like what they do for the elderly who lugg around oxygen tanks...and then you just sit there an breathe in pure oxygen for 10 minutes while you get a massage - so great.)
^then we drove to California
Christmas Day:
^aunt Melissa's mom and Patty (her significant other) came over and we opened presents and all that jazz
^we ate deep fried turkey - my first ever - and it was SO DELICIOUS...I don't think I can have turkey dinners any other way anymore!
^I don't think we did much else the rest of the day...
the 26th:
^I honestly can't remember what we did - probably nothing, just sat around the house while uncle and Melissa were at work all day
^when they came home, we drove to downtown LA and visited JapanTown...why don't we have cool places like that in FL?!
^bought some things for a program I'm doing this semester for the cultural theme week - I'm making sushi!
:D
the 27th:
^I think this was the day we did ABSOLUTELY nothing all day...I never left the house...I was promised a trip to the mall so I wouldn't go crazy, but it started to downpour and the roads were all very flooded.
the 28th:
^aunt Judy goes home....thank God.
- you don't understand - the woman loves to hear herself talk. She is trying out the comedy scene, goes to comedy bars and performs and whatnot...but she's not that funny. Anytime anyone evers says something she says, "Actually, blah blah blah ::insert really pointless opinion/useless info. on subject being discussed here::..." I swear, if she had said "Actually" one more time - I was ACTUALLY got to slug her.
- anywho -
^I watched the Japan channel with my Grandma almost every day. I didn't know what they were saying, but I could tell what was going on by their body language and from my Grandma's translation every now and then.
I LOVE MY GRANDMA.
the 29th:
^went to the BodyWorlds display at the California Science Center - the plastinate bodies of cadavers...well, more like the muscular, bone, and nerve structres of the cadavers, posed and stuff...I got a poster that will be donning my wall in the dorm if anyone wants to see!
SO RAD SO RAD SO RAD SO RAD SO RAD!!!!!!!!!
the 30th (I think):
(its really bad to do these things after the fact...its harder to remember when things happened)
^when Melissa and uncle came home that night, we drove out to LA for the George Lopez show at Universal Citywalk, Hollywood. Cousin and I did not go to the show, we walked around Citywalk and he played games in the arcade (mostly DDR) and I window shopped.
^a live swing band was playing and I really wished right then that Corey has come with us...we could have swing danced and it would have been lovely. But I bought their CD and got autographs from some of the band members, so it was a little better...but not really.
^apparently the George Lopez show was only funny if you were Mexican - so my parents didn't enjoy his show...neither did my anut and uncle, really.
the 31st (yesterday):
^Melissa, Mom, and I got pedicures and manicures - my toes are magenta!!! yay!!!
^we went to Ross and I got Coulotes (sp?) for Alyssa and myself
^mom and dad watched Kill Bill vol. 2 for the first time
^Corey called me at 9pm west coast time to say "Happy New Year"
^everyone but my Grandma stayed up for New Year's and we all had sparkling apple cider at midnight on the west coast
^I called Corey at 12am west coast time to say "Happy New Year"
today:
^I have done practically nothing, again.
^watched Identity with my dad because he had never seen it - he liked it a lot - I knew he would.
^Later we are going to JapanTown again for the New Year's celebration
^we fly out of LAX at 11:55pm tonight and get back to Ft. Walton at like 9am tomorrow...eek.
SO that's my break in a nutshell.
(Alyssa's mommy and brother, Matt, came to see us while Corey and AJ were still at my house for the very beginning of the break...we had Christmas early and Keysha came over to join in the fun. I love my extended family - sometimes I think I love my non-blood related members more than some of my blood related ones. My mom and Alyssa's mom are like best buds now - which is very cool - and I think her mom and my mom's boss might like each other...which is also very very cool.)
Right-O.
Props to the people who actually read all this. (It's mostly for my recollection of my break...but I hope if you read it, you were still amused.)
I can't wait to come home - I can only take some of my family members in small doses, I had had a nice tall glass of annoying family to last me for a while...on the flip-side, I don't want to leave some of them behind. I got my Grandma to write her real name in Japanese for me - part of my second tattoo. I love her so much. And it's sad that I'm closer to my aunt who is family by marriage rather than my mom's real sister - ::sigh:: - whatever.
There will probably be more to follow when I sit down and remember everything else I wanted to say but forgot to do so.
I miss you all. Desperately.
