Terry Pratchett -_-

He is diagnosed with Alzheimer. It's not the end, but really regrettable and sad. However, I hope that many particles of inspiration will still come his way in the next years.

Since I'm not one of the big bloggers, I will just make a list with things I like about him and his books (and for which I'm grateful):
- the humanism, even if sometimes disguised as black humour
- the look at religion (you get what you think you'll get)
- the parodies (of Shakespeare, fairy tale tropes, Gaston Leroux)
- the Witches of Lancre
- the Librarian
- the particles of inspiration (though I don't know if this is the correct word used in Soul Music, since I've read it in English German [silly :p]) [ETA: the inspiration particles (Thank you, Kikoma)]
- Death (Reaper Man is my favorite Terry Pratchett book, just because of the scenes Death has in this book.)

I don't like all of his books, and I think his talent had ups and down, but he is one of my favorite authors. If I feel really down and want to read something light and still intelligent, I can always come back to the books I love most: Reaper Man, Pyramids, Small Gods, Witches Abroad, Lords and Ladies, Guards! Guards!, Men at Arms.

So, I'm looking forward to more books, and I need to read A Hatful of Sky and Wintersmith now. :)
