Experiments

Today, I went crazy with Photoshop, trying for the first time to get really into it, because one woman at the university told me that she only uses Photoshop and Image Ready for webpages, and does lots of cool stuff with this software. Until now, I have only used Photoshop to brighten the pictures I made in the archives.

Well, today, I made lots of weird things, mostly collages. My best result so far is this collage, inspired by the pirate topic of my thesis. I feel that it is a bit too full, but hey, I'm still in the experimenting phase.

I wanted to transport the seafaring aspect and the sense of danger. The letter in the upper half is one of the letters of marque/passport the pirates got from some Hanseatic Towns (or rather, if I follow my own hypothesis, they got a copy from it). The burning building is the Hakonshall from Bergen which I used on purpose, because they went up to Bergen twice in 1428 and 1429 and plundered the city and the king's palace. So even if they didn't burn down the hall itself, they certainly burned down the city.
Another funny discovery today: online radio. Since I didn't have broadband for a very long time, I had no experience with it. The only weird thing is that every time I wanted to listen to NKR Alltid Klassik, my internet connection crushed after twenty minutes or less.  :(
