It looks like a stray kitten is trying to adopt me. Yesterday we heard meowing up on one of my trees in the front yard, and sure enough there was a small grey kitten up there meowing at us. Didn't think much of it at the time, but today, there he is in front of the house. My stepmom (visiting from California this weekend) gave him a bit of cat food and he wolfed it down immediately. Also, he came back around to the back yard and started whoring for attention.
He's a cute little guy with a really nice personality. He came right up to us for pets and wanted to lay down in our laps. If I didn't already have two indoor cats, I'd consider adopting him. My problem is that he is by now an outdoor cat, and my current ones are both strictly indoor. (They do still have all their claws though). I don't think they would mix well because if I have to let one out I pretty much end up having to let them all out. That and I don't want to be like the crazy cat lady. Two is enough for me right now.
I'm still not sure if he's one of the neighbors kitties, so I'll probably knock on some doors tomorrow, and give it a day or two to be sure, with some food and water out back just in case. If I can't find anyone then I'll think about trying to find him a home or bringing him to the local Animal Humane shelter. I think he would be adopted pretty quickly since he's a kitten and has a great personality.
We'll see.
