Basil Gimlet
  • 2 oz gin
  • 1.5 oz fresh lime juice
  • .5-1 oz simple syrup
  • 5 large basil leaves

In shaker, muddle basil leaves thoroughly with lime juice and simple syrup. Add gin and ice, shake well, serve in martini glass (preferably short-stemmed, because the long-stemmed ones are a pain).

This is the best drink I know how to make. You can change the proportions until you get the right ones for you - mine might be a little tart for everyone's taste, and, honestly, I usually use more gin. Because that is how I roll.
