ambersky and her family watched the classic "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)" this week. By far, I consider this the scariest and most important film of its era and its genre. We actually didn't get to see the movie until last night.

What I liked...the feeling of ruination and degridation to what was once thriving and beautiful. The sense, once inside the house, that here is a place of death and maddness. The photography itself, which masterfully pulls our feelings without any techological tricks. This movie could teach a lot about camera angles, especially camera angles on faces. The total mix of kind words and cruel actions from the "Cook" character.

What I didn't like...The lack of character development in the victoms. Other than the boy in the wheelchar (Franklin?) I had not one clue, nor one reason to care about any of these characters. There was plenty of time for it, it just never happened. The long, long chase of our last girl, though the woods, by Leatherface. Cut that time in half and give it to character development, please?

I think it was a good movie, and I can deffinately see what you are saying about it's prophetic warnings, but somehow it left me too detatched. My mind was engaged, but my emotions were not.

But I'd love to see if the boy in the wheelchair ever did anything else, because his accent is so lovely!
