(no subject)
I really needed last weekend. I'm actual facts feeling quite normal again. (Not that I think it will be solid for a little while yet, like after the assignments are in and I can do research, real actual research for my honours).
So thank you everyone who came to Yule (or sent apologies). It was awesome. I got to be social with real live people, eat lots of cookies and fudge and koeksoesters and watch all of breaking in with minna and sweetphaex and remember what my life used to be like when I wasn't wrapped up in too much stuff with too little payoff.
I think one of the things I miss is that we all used to be in the same fandoms talking about the same things instead of squeeing about slightly divergent stuff. There was much X-Men and Game of Thrones squawking which was awesome. But these days I can't even guarantee that my bff's have even seen the same shows I'm watching. And, I really do miss it. I think the whole Harry Potter thing is bringing this up for me too. It's a little bit the end of an era with the last films coming out in the next few weeks. Nostalgia :)
So my fannish stuff at the moment, so you can all join in the squee, is writing a big bang for Sanctuary, writing a fic for the apocalyptothon (I've got really cool options), doing a catch up fic for yuletide. I'm also in the bbcland for the next round and am in Team Lannister for throneland. Land comms are surprisingly fun. Plus I don't feel guilty, too much, when I'm busy and just can't do the challenges. Any points I can give count. But seriously come and join Team Lannister, we need people ;).
I'm watching a bunch of stuff and so a couple of picks to touch base whether y'all are watching them too:
Breaking In - 20-ish minutes, 8 eps, not 100% if it's been picked up but we're hopefull. This is fracking awesome. It's got Christian Slater, Trevor Moore (Whitest Kids You Know), Michael Rosenbaum and the main guy from Reaper. The main chick is fricken kick arse awesome and it's funny, watch it four times and still crack up funny. It's for the geek in all of us. I REALLY WANT A KINK MEME (and I'm not really a kink-meme kind of grrrl)
Franklin and Bash - very early days on this but it's a bit Boston Legal and it's got Mark Paul Gosselar from Saved By The Bell and Dead Man on Campus and Breckin Meyer (who's on my current layout) from Robot Chicken and Clueless and a bunch of other stuff. I'm not sure if it's quite as clever as BL but I'm enjoying it because the chemistry between the leads is awesome, even just in a friendship way.
Teen Wolf - is anyone else watching this? It's very... gay. I mean the hot early twenty but pretending to be in highschool boys are always taking their shirts off and slamming each other against lockers. Yeah, my pleasure is intellectual.
Um, I'm sure there's other stuff. I mean XMen, right? and Game of Thrones and The Borgias and OMG can't wait for Captain America (Chris Evans FTW, I have a thing).
Oh and I've been doing some dj-gigs and that's been fun but not my radio show because I'm still on the honours project but I've also update my layout for the Here Comes Mars blog that I'm going to do some music blogging on (hence my much earlier question about what you guys read). I'm also, in the background trying to put a zine together and do a craft blog, more later!
