Title: Sunset and Nightfall
Fandom: LOTR
Pairing: Boromir/Theodred
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Tolkien = genius. Simbelmyne = not so much.
Summary: Sunset rides are so romantic.
AN: Two companion drabbles, written at work in ~15 minutes each.
Sunset
The setting sun is ablaze above the verdant hills, but to your eyes your companion flames even brighter with the light of laughter in his gaze. He glances back at you in challenge, golden hair streaming in the wind of his speed, and you lean forward, urging your steed to match his. Neck and neck you crest the final hill, and in the end your companion declares a draw.
Théodred is taller than you, but on horseback you are equal, and when his mount stops beside yours it is an easy thing to lean across and meet his smiling mouth.
Nightfall
The nightshade is falling as you walk back to the stables, the first pale stars already glimmering above the fading hills. Your companion is a dim shape beside you, his hair blacker still against the darkening sky. Yet when he turns to you his eyes are steady and untroubled and reflect only the starlight. Your breath catches to see him thus, free from darkness and for the moment at peace.
Boromir is broader than you, but your reach is long, and when you stand close enough you find that your arms fit around him as easily as his enfold you.
