He actually does. I can't really say I like him, Heathcliff is always too cliché for me, but he plays the role very well and the eye-candy definitely helps ;)
In my experience, Wuthering Heights is only considered an epic love story by people who haven't actually read the book.
This is probably true! Although I do think some people have a tendency to idealize ruinous obsession as romantic instead of just disordered and repulsive, which is how I find it personally.
Anyway, I am curious to see what he does with the role, so I'm sure I will end up watching it. But I haven't seen Bronson, so I think I'll get that first.
If you'd like me to, I would be happy to upload Bronson for you!
It's definitely worth seeing. It hurts, but it hurts so good. (And the scenes which display Tom Hardy's junk swinging around- in all its glory- as he beats the ever-living daylights out of everyone to cross him do nothing to turn away viewers...)
You are not alone in your love of Tom Hardy! I actually just went through RocknRolla again and watched all his scenes. He is damn sexy. I think my favorite moment is when he's sweet-talking Bertie on the phone. Rawr, indeed!
And, yes, I suppose I will watch Wuthering Heights. But just for Tom Hardy's lips!
I loved it, but it's a hard movie to watch at times. It's pretty out there and violent and darkish, but also occasionally strangely sweet in a deeply fucked up way. He's INCREDIBLY compelling in it, and almost unrecognizable. And you get to see him full monty several times. If it had been an american film, I think he'd have gotten an oscar nomination, he's that good. This was totally the movie that tipped the scales for me from 'He's very hot and an appealing actor' to 'holy fuck, he's got some scary good acting chops'.

And I agree about Gerard, all these romcoms were just too much.
Watch Wuthering Heights! I hate the book, too, but there's a reason to watch the movie: Tom's LIPS :D

Re: Wuthering Heights. Well...I guess I can do it for Tom Hardy's lips. Does he make Heathcliff any less loathsome than usual?
