Last day in Spain....

Last day of holiday. Because we have two days of French highways ahead of us (and a day of train-ing across the country for me on Sunday) we took it easy. Went for a short hike in a provincial park near Vitoria, surrounding one of the reservoirs. It was a very quiet and peaceful place on a Thursday in September, but probably not the place an introvert wants to be caught in the weekend. As it was, we had the trail mostly to ourselves and the birds, along with a couple bikers and a dogwalker.

Finding lunch was again a challenge. We must be doing something wrong, or the local people in this part of the country never eat out. Finally, we managed to find a bar that served 'pintxos', small bites. Enough small bites make one big lunch, though, so all's well that ends well. Just something to remember if we ever visit these parts again: bring your own lunch.

I do have a few photos of today, and even two of yesterday: the Salinas, salt 'fields' on raised tables, which looked VERY rundown, but is apparently still mostly active in spring. It's also a cultural heritage site, which I can very well understand. And a photo of the view from the porch of our accommodation that I thought was worth sharing...!

On the down side: end of holiday. On the up: a few more days and I'll have my own bed and shower again. And decent bread! :)
