All sorts of stuff

Can someone explain this: the music industry always hollers about losing money due to BitTorrent (and the like) downloads. Now, I would be perfectly happy to buy a certain album from iTunes, except.... IT'S FRIGGIN' ONLY AVAILABLE ON ITUNES USA!

I realized that yesterday was Sam's "found day". Or rather, his "arrival at animal shelter with ( Read more... )

Oooh, take Mag! Surely he'll need a cook? She can easily abandon adraefan's AU for your AU. (And Boromir is less crazy in yours. Isn't he?)

I do have a cook on the list. Are you sure Mag would be up to more adventure? Boromir would certainly enjoy having her along! But he worries that perhaps it's not the best idea for her. Mag isn't the young maid she once was, and it's going to be a hard life in Dunland, at least for the first years. Wouldn't she want to serve out her final years in the comfort of Minas Tirith, with the young princes to spoil with her honey cakes? Oh, I can just picture such a conversation between them!

And yes, rest assured, my Boromir is far less crazy than adraefan's...

All very true. She's a city girl, and hated Ithilien the short time she was there (too quiet! and snakes! ugh!) So perhaps it's all for the best that she stay at the Rose Garden for a bit longer, until Ana and Iorlas bring her home with them.

Too bad. The more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of Boromir having at least one person around whom he knew from "before". It's difficult enough for him to get used to being waited upon again after fending for himself for almost five years. Most of his attendants are new, but I think I can manage to give him one of his old manservants.

Perhaps Mag has an adventurous assistant who is ready for a promotion? At least she would know all the right recipes!

Happy found-day for Sam! My crew sends catnip cookies and tuna your way. :)

Do you know how old he is?

They estimated his age at four years when he came to the shelter. That would make him eight now. But I've always felt that behavior-wise, he was younger. Once his hip had fully healed, he was (and sometimes is) still so playful, that I think they gave him two years too many. So that would make him six now.

Happy Found Day to Sam! (Be grateful you didn't get a youngster; so far this week, Kimba has broken the home network router, climbed into the clothes dryer and dishwasher multiple times, chewed up a pile of papers, and dumped a glass of cider on a rug. She is sleeping now, so we should finish out the week without further incident.)
About Boromir's retinue, maybe think of it in terms of functions. What does he need to have done? Is he setting up a new government? Is he there simply as ambassador?

so far this week, Kimba has.....

Haha, never a dull moment at the Branwyn household, I see. I specifically wanted an older cat because they are harder to place, usually. But it was incredibly hard because the kittens were all so cute with big, innocent eyes (kinda like your icon) and mewling so sadly to be taken away...

As for Boromir's retinue, I do have a list of functions that he's going to need. Some perhaps only for traveling to Dunland with a large party. I/he doesn't want to take too many people because, if he wants to try and truly be Lord of Dunland, he needs to involve the Dunlendings as much as possible. Having an entirely Gondorian household would not be helping. Much to his dismay, though, the list is growing constantly. And if it were up to the Gondorian functionaries, it would get even larger because, you know, those primitives... what would they know of a Lord's needs?

I'll probably put the list up later for people to take potshots at.

Most of the cats we have adopted have been adults for just that reason--older cats have more diffculty finding homes. Kimba can add my computer keyboard to the casualty list--as of this morning, the "i" key is sticking. She must have run across it one too many times. Having so much kitten cuteness around the house has its price. :-D
