8,000 words in, and I finally found my main plot. Now, all I need to do is make actual sense of it... Since it involves political intrigue, that is not going to be easy. But then, hopefully, some of my pointless scenes will have a point after all. Unfortunately, I need a slew of new characters, and it's a pain in the behind to come up with names that fit in Tolkien's world.
At least for modern, English names, all I need to do is look into my spamfolder and pick something that seems to fit the character...
In any case, I did make up a name for Dunland that I like. Dunland apparently was a phrase coined by the Rohirrim. I seriously doubt the Dunlendings would call themselves something the Rohirrim made up... So, in Dunlendish Dunland is called Gwaearn now. Roughly based on the Welsh words for 'people' and 'iron' pasted together, with a couple of letters removed. It seems sufficiently unpronounceable. If anyone has objections or alternative, I'd be happy to hear them.
