Money, power and Farscape

Had another meeting with the mortgage people today. An official request for an offer has now been entered into the sytem. It is very scary; my monthly payments are going to explode. Then again, I managed to save up quite a bit each month for the past years, so it is affordable. Just scary.

The strangest thing is that it's actually more advantageous to borrow money for house payments, than to use one's savings. Though I'll be happily using the supplied tax deductions and whatnot, deep down on a basic level this feels very wrong.

There must have been a power outage during the day because all machinery was blinking happily at the wrong time settings, or telling me to check the date/time it displayed. The heater had turned off completely (not that I need central heating right now, but it also supplies the hot water). I managed to fix it all by myself, so I'm quite proud of me... Well, all it took was touching a reset button, but if you know that it is very hard to see where it is and hard to reach, and that I have a big manual that explains exactly how to install and maintain the thing but fails to show me where to locate said reset button...

I finished season two of Farscape last night. Gods, that Aeryn funeral scene kills me every time. Mucho tears. It's rare, but some scenes do that to me every time. This is obviously one of them. Another is Boromir's death scene in Fellowship (hey, aren't you surprised?).

I've also started to realize that Farscape is really a very dark show. It hides a lot beneath banter and comic relief and Crichton's pop culture references, but when you stop and really look at what is going on with these people... Dark, very, very dark. I love dark
