Oh, this was lovely. The ultimate in hurt/comfort, actually!! I love the very real, painful emotions of the first part in contrast to the calm of the end. Damn, but you just want to cuddle Sirius! And your Remus is so perfectly patient and loving - they fit together so well.

This just killed me with the truth of it: Remus tried to keep himself together, lessen the trembling of his body, fight the tears. He had to be strong for Sirius. This was Sirius' time now.

You know, it's an issue often touched on but rarely doven into in fandom-- the degree of Sirius' emotional distress and PTSD. I mean, I'm sure he had PTSD, and the way it was treated for 12 years was to have him repeat the negative experiences. It really is a wonder he didn't go crazy. It certainly sounds much worse than physical torture. Thank you for giving me a taste of that pain, however difficult to stomach, because I think it's true and I think it's important to understand.
