I posted this the other day in the bad service community. I was instantly inundated with over 200 comments telling me what an entitlement bitch I am. How passive aggressive i am. What a terrible customer I was. How much I totally suck and how rude and abrasive this post is. I've also been told that my friends must all be extreme assholes if they're my friends, and basically that i'm satan. And they all claim it's entirely because this post is so unbearably rude and hostile.
I'd appreciate y'all telling me if you think it's rude and abrasive and hostile.
I'm having LJ cut issues.....actually I'm having LJ client issues that I suspect have something to do with my browser....so it's not behind a cut. Sorry about that.
THE POST
I went to Peaches today......for anyone unfamiliar it's a music store on a par with Strawberries, Popcorn, etc. I've been in before and had no trouble finding anything, and the people were very attentive and helpful.
Today?
Not so much, really.
I walked in with my daughter, each of us looking for something different. She wanted the Twilight soundtrack for her sister, and a cd for hersellf, I was after two local cd's I knew they had.
There was a clump of employees chatting at the front of the store, with a group of their friends. We had to walk through them all, saying "excuse me....excuse me...pardon me.." all the way. None of them so much as acknowledged us, other than to step out of our way.
We then discovered that there has been some sort of mad chaos spell put on the rest of the store. Local music is now grouped by category..jazz, zydeco, cajun, blues.....that's awesome if the local artist you want is one of those genres. I wanted two people who are none of the above so I went to the "new orleans" section. It was in some sort of order but it wasnt alphabetical......sections for "S" were next to sections for "M" which were above sections for "H" etc. It was all very confusing. I tried a couple of times to stop an employee who went running by twice, but she ignored me completely and did not stop. I then tried to ask another employee, who ignored me as well. My daughter and I were very vocally trying to figure out how to find things, but nobody at any point bothered to come help us. There was one other customer in the store, and the group they'd been talking to when we walked in.
I eventually found two of the three cd's i'd been looking for....not anywhere near where I'd expect to find them. (Paul Sanchez was in with Kermit Ruffins, John Boutte was in with Louis Armstrong. Go figure.)
My daughter did find the Twilight cd, under "S", but it was quite a bit more expensive than it should have been, so she opted to go elsewhere. The other cd she wanted didn't seem to exist at all....or at least nowhere near it's proper section.
She was unable to get any help finding it, so she gave up.
When I tried to check out I took my cd's to the counter and stood there. And stood there. And stood there. Several employees bustled about, playing with colored tissue paper and talking, but nobody seemed at all interested in ringing me out. I said "Excuse me?" several times and finally someone looked up and said 'Oh um....yes?'
Well...I'm standing here at the register with cd's in my hand. Take your best guess.
Another lady asked me if I wanted to check out. She took the cd's and wandered away...gave them to somebody else....who gave them to somebody else...who waved them at me and smiled and then asked the OTHER girl if she'd scanned them yet!
For godsake. Really?
Then they had to decide if they were local artists. I guess they do those a certain way. I told her they were, and she commented that they were very good...and where had I heard them?
Well, I live here. They're local. Take your best guess.
She started to get all super knowledgeable about them at me, and I'd about had enough, since she was chatting and not ringing me in, so I said "Yeah...I know. If you flip them over..this guy? He's my landlord. This guy? My best friend. This woman? HIS best friend. This guy? My neighbor. This guy? My landlords sound tech...want me to go on?"
She got all snotty and asked me for my license, saw my address, and said "OH. Well. You DO live here I see."
Yeah.
But she still hadn't rung me in. I figured she had my credit card and license, we were on the right road there, but it was at least another five minutes before she finished giving me her input on the music I had to actually allow me to buy it and get out of there!
All in all it was the most ridiculous and frustrating experience I've yet to have shopping around here, which is saying a lot.
