ooh sensual: New Moon @ Comic Con 09
I should be upfront and say that I didn’t actually attend Comic Con, what with being on the other side of the Atlantic and all, but that doesn’t mean I can't enjoy in all the New Moon panel shenanigans via youtube., right? Right…?
*tumbleweed blows across the view*
I have a rather conflicted relationship with twilight. On the one hand, I squee with the unrestrained glee of an average twilight fan at any twilight news while at the same time, holding a rather mocking, disdainful view of the hoopla. I’m positive that I’m not the only one who feels this way but if you put a gun to my head I think my allegiances would sway towards the ‘twilight is great’ side of things. So it’s on with the show.
Here’s all the stuff I learnt about comic con 09.
Chris Weitz is funny. I loved his deadpan response on being asked why he chose to direct New Moon. He said he had been stalking Robert Pattinson and couldn’t turn down the chance to get within touching distance of him. My other fave quote was when he answered what Rob brought to Edward’s role - “he’s cold to the touch, his skin is like marble…” LMAO. He was very cool and touchingly sincere about how nice it was to have the support of fans and Summit.
The panel consisted of Kristen, Taylor, Robert and Ashley as well as Chris. That was just the right amount of people because these are the main players. I think The Powers That Be realised that Ashley is immensely popular because of Alice and this was her first time at Comic Con. She was pretty adorable but I think some of the questions threw her slightly because she struggled a bit. However, the crowd support helped her confidence and I bet she’ll get better in time at the whole Q&A thing.
There was a lot of support for Taylor which is nice but I’m kinda sick of Kristen trying to make Taylor happen because she pimps him out at every available opportunity. Maybe, she wants to distance herself from Rob or thinks Taylor is more worthy of attention than Rob who clearly has had enough of it but she doesn’t need to try so hard. His washboard abs will do most the work.
The crowd was deafening as ever but the fans’ questions to the panel were more jokey - some guy was dressed as Dracula and a fan asked Chris if he was scared of the fan reactions posted on youtube - and the panel responded in similar mischievous spirits as witnessed in my fave clip when the panel were asked what they were looking forward to filming in the later series.

I imagine Rob and Kristen’s response to Kevin would be:
My response to the New Moon clips? Well, I admit it. I was clapping like a seal and giggling uncontrollably so yeah, I pretty much loved it. I spent much of my adolescence being too cool for school and it feels good to just embrace the cheesiness, the silliness and the fun that twilight brings.
Now, please excuse me while I go watch the New Moon clips for a millionth time.
