[ History ] :
Medusa is an ancient witch and the younger sister of the witch Arachne. When she first appears in the series, she is seen to be watching the Demon Sword, Ragnarok, and its meister, Crona, encouraging them to kill humans and eat their souls. Crona manages to gravely injure meister Maka's weapon, Soul Eater, but isn't able to deliver the final blow to both of them due to intervention from legendary meister Stein and his weapon partner, Spirit. When Crona is defeated, Medusa directs an attack at Stein, and when he deflects it, she cuts her losses and leaves with Crona. Later on, it is revealed that Medusa is working undercover at the DWMA as a school nurse, using Soul Protect to disguise her identity. She uses her position there to research the weapon/meister connection, to keep an eye on Soul Eater (who has been infected by black blood), and to gain access to the kishin beneath the school.
While she continues her research, Medusa is confronted by two other witches, the oldest Mizune sister and the frog witch, Eruka. They protest to her studies at the DWMA, and her quest to turn Crona into a kishin. Medusa appears to ignore them at first, but before she leaves them, she shoves a hand in each of their mouths. The two are disgusted, but don't think anything of it. Later, when they corner her in Death City with the intent of killing her or revealing her as a witch to the DWMA, she is able to easily kill the oldest Mizune sister, having put one of her snakes inside the witches body. Eruka realizes that a snake has been placed inside her as well, and quickly flees when she has the opening to do so. Medusa catches up to her quickly, though, as the snakes inside of Eruka now broadcast her movements to Medusa. Holding the threat of death over Eruka's head, she demands that the frog witch release a dangerous prisoner from witch prison, among other tasks, promising to remove one snake for every errand she runs.
Using the freed prisoner, who declares his new name to be Free, she tests Maka and Soul Eater, attempting to force them to resonate so that the black blood in Soul's body will spread to Maka as well. While they do resonate, and Maka is infected by the blood, it disappears from her body quickly. Medusa, perturbed by this turn of events, prescribes her an herbal medicine that will help enhance the black blood. Professor Stein questions her about the prescription later, and she quickly covers her tracks, but the professor isn't convinced, and he sends the zombie Sid to her house to investigate. Sid, however, is met with an attack from Eruka's tadpole bombs, and goes off the grid for a short time.
A few days a later, at a party celebrating the founding of the DWMA, Medusa begins to put her plan into action. She communicates telepathically with Eruka to get her and Free into position. While organizing things, however, Professor Stein interrupts, declaring that he's drunk and that they should dance. After being literally dragged out the floor, Medusa dances with Stein, who eventually admits that he isn't drunk and begins to question her about the disappearance of Sid. He once again accuses her of being a witch and asks her what her plan is. After conceding and revealing that she's going to attempt to revive the kishin under the school, Medusa surprises Stein by asking him to join her. She takes advantage of his stunned silence and moves to kiss him, ready to put snake into his body as well.
At that precise moment, however, Sid reappears, announcing that he barely escaped an attempt on his life and that Medusa is going to trap them all in the ballroom. She takes advantage of the distraction dives out the window, clearing the way for Free to lock the students, teachers, and Lord Death in the tower. Thinking fast, Sid is able to get a few people out of the room in time: Stein, Maka, Soul, Black Star, Tsubaki, Death the Kid, Liz, and Patty. Spirit also manages to escape on his own. Once the first phase is complete, Crona arrives with the Mizune sisters, who begin to destroy Death City. Medusa takes Eruka, Free, and Crona underground, sending the three ahead with the black blood while she stays behind to hold off any interference. In the initial skirimish, the seven kids slip by, but Spirit and Stein stay behind to keep Medusa occupied.
While the kids engage in their own battles with Crona, Free, and Eruka, Medusa does everything in her power to keep Stein and Spirit from moving forward. She repeats her offer to Stein, saying that he doesn't belong in a stagnant world, that together, with the power of the kishin, they can advance to the future.
[ Personality ] :
Medusa is a manipulative woman, and willing to do anything to achieve her goals. She views the world as an experiment in and of itself, and shows a general disregard for the well-being of others. She prefers to let others do her dirty work, employing people through blackmail, threats, or lies. She also thinks things through extremely far in advance, and doesn't typically jump into anything without considering every angle and variable possible.
Throughout the series, she doesn't seem to form connection with anyone aside from Stein, who she values for his creativity, his perspective as a scientist, and his susceptibility to madness wavelenghths. She has been known to go as far as to experiment on her own child and force him to do unspeakably cruel things, so her sense of humanity can be safely called "diminished" at best.
She can be arrogant at times, due to the fact that she is one of the more powerful witches and is very self-assured in her abilities, both magical and strategical. Her confidence makes it easy for her to believe that she can accomplish anything and defeat anyone.
She also shows an extreme fixation on power and natural progression. She typically doesn't hold back on her opponents unless it benefits her. She disklikes the static of the world, and craves evolution and change. As a natural predator, she desires a world without rules, confident that she would still be powerful in such a place.

[ Other Important Facts ] :
As Medusa is still undercover at the DWMA at this point, she won't be able to use her magic while in the presence of anyone in the academy from her canon, such as Stein and Spirit. That is, y'know... until someone outs her. :D
Also, the mark is on the back her right ankle, so it might be awhile before she notices it.
