It all started friday night when my landlord (Cameron) came over w/ a half gallon of Southern Comfort. He, my brother and I drank nearly all of it and sat around talking bullshit about music, relationships, and art. By the end of the conversation we all managed to agree that we dont know enough about any of those subjects. So, Cameron ends up passing out on my bed, at which time I have to wake him up and put him on the couch.
The next morning we all wake up and I start cooking breakfast. While Im cooking Cameron starts smoking up the kitchen w/ cigarrettes (PUKE) so it goes. He puts out the cigarrette and we had eggs, biscuits, bacon, cheese, and hashbrowns.
After breakfast, Cameron and I hop (like rabbits) in his (one day my) miata and drive off. With a minimum speed of 65-70 mph we drive to a small town called Bell Buckle. We drive around looking at houses that date back to around 1800-1850. Eventually we stop and have lunch at a very cozy diner where I had a chicken salad croissant, boiled cabbage, and new potatoes. I recommend their sweet tea (OMFG) I had 5 glasses.
We left Bell Buckle and went through a small town called wartrace. Eventually Im taking Rosemary there and we are going to eat at the whistlestop cafe. We went to Shelbyville and visited an old farmhouse where Cameron lived for around 15 years. He hadnt seen the place in 20 years and a pool had been put in the back yard since then (this excited him greatly). The view was beautiful from the house. He said he used to watch the sunset from the top of the front porch. The house faces "perfectly west".
The next few towns werent all that cool, but never-the-less it was all fun. We made our way down to Dell Rose, which is about 6 miles from the Alabama state line, and visited the Bee Spring cemetary where Cameron will be buried. He had me take a picture of him lying on his burial spot. I asked him if he felt comfortable and he said yes except for the slight incline. He then said that when they make the hole that it will have a level bottom so it doesnt really matter. so it goes.
We went across the street to the Bee Spring church, which is only used for memorial services and weddings, and went around to the back entrance. When we got back there a man walked around the corner to interigate us about why we were there. Cameron explained that he has a heart disease and will be dead soon and he will be buried in their cemetary. The guy said that he lived across the street beside the cemetary and cameron said "Then I guess we will be neighbors" w/ a laugh. This guy told us that recently some kids have been vandalizing the church. We went inside and powder was on the floor and "Dont Bother Us" was written in the powder. Also, the kids had made a shape of a cross out of window weights and broken a front window. I was looking at the preacher's pulpit and the stranger guy told me the bible had been sitting there for over 100 years. I looked, but the bible wasnt there. The guys face had an amazing look of dissapointment.
Ive forgotten to mention that throughout the day Ive been dressed to kill. I get back and some friends tell me about a party that I should go to w/ them. I nearly decide to change into something more casual, but decide that it would be fun to show up overdressed. When I get there it turns out to be a middle school dance theme party. So the guys were in suits and ties and the girls in dresses. So I accidentally dressed perfectly for the event. I only drank 2 beers and had a great time. There was late 80's and early 90's rap music playing to help w/ the theme atmosphere. I went to bed after a lovely conversation w/ the girl I love and woke up at 1pm. This was the first fun murfreesboro weekend in a long time.
