Necoco is, by nature, a toppy person. He has a Lot of Love to Give (tm), and sometimes this manifests itself awkwardly--such as with Neji. When Neji opened up about his relationship problems with minimal prompting, Necoco felt like Neji was going out of his way to introduce Necoco into his life. It was a forward, positive action, so Necoco tried to do his best to "deserve" it, and be a good friend to Neji. It was fast, but Necoco is in there for the long haul, now--Neji is still going through a rough time, to Necoco's knowledge, and Necoco wants to help. The vague social inadequacies don't bother Necoco in the slightest, because a) he's programed to deal with worse and b) Neji isn't mean, he's just so quiet, and that is still a really new and weird thing to Necoco. WHY DON'T YOU TALK MORE? I LOVE TALKING. I COULD TALK ALL DAY!

He sometimes wonders if he is annoying, promises himeself that he'll be less annoying, and consequently becomes more "in your face" as he tries harder. It's... kind of a vicious cycle, and may come up a lot between us.

BABY!NEJI IS TOO CUTE TO EXIST OMG OMG. Necoco isn't even really a kid person and was charmed. It was... it was the cheeks. And how much he cared about that poor creature bawwww ;; COME INTO MY AAAARRRMMMSSS

What are some of your favorite CFUD memories with Neji? If you need a solid number to aim for... top five? ♥

#1 - bunnygirl Neji flashing Sasuke. It happened. IT WAS AWESOME.

#2 - Anything with chibi Neji will rank high for me. It's adorable. I don't even know.

#3 - Itachi and Neji becoming canon.

#4 - Neji finding out about Itachi's backstory, which was hard on him but led to some good threads.

#5 - Naruto BEING IN CAMP. In general! And Hinata! Someone app them for me! Um. Or, that might not actually count. But seriously, just Naruto and Neji threading was awesome.

Which of your characters should I play with more?

Well, ZEX and Necoco are my spamwhores, and while I love their relationships... Hikyou really needs some buds. Badly. He doesn't see the point of socializing unless he gets something out of it, so he needs a reason to talk to someone--that reason could easily be "the other person is annoying and clingy," but that hasn't really happened. So I dunno! Are you interested in having CR with Gay Batman, is the real question here. ♥

Why did you app Neji? Were there other characters in the running, or was he the obvious choice for you at the time?

I'd be willing to give it a shot! XD

As for apping Neji, there were some other characters in the running, but none of them really clicked. I was having a conversation with a friend about having decided to app and not being sure who, and in the course of it I decided that I needed a straight man type of character who could also be snarky about all of the ridiculous things that happen in camp. I forget the exact details, but somehow in the course of talking about it, Neji clicked as someone I could probably handle in Camp.

If I were more ambitious, my first character would have been Jen from the Dark Crystal. No kidding. :|b

So why ZEX? XD

...Hahahaha, g-good question. Um, probably a mixture of these factors:

1) Tentacle alien in Camp interacting with Marcy = hilarious.
2) No one else would app him ever, since he's so obscure and the fandom BNF doesn't like huge RPs like this one.
3) His voice comes easily to me because I am a fan of both Isaac Asimov and Oscar Wilde. Scifi random factoids mushed together with fancypants sentence structure? I'm there.

He just seemed like a solid choice all around, especially because I knew I wasn't gonna be stepping on toes. I was thinking about apping someone more popular at the time, I think, but then I was like "But a dup would be FUCKING TERRIFYING" so I didn't.

What do you like most about all of your canons?

Naruto is hilarious, okay? XD It's silly, and yeah, it can be dumb, but it's fun.

Angel Sanctuary hits some of my pings. I love Hatter. And also, Setsuna-in-Alexiel's-body. And reincarnation. And thiiiings.

Trinity Blood... if I say the way the artist draws fangs, would that make me a bad person?

Hakuouki has pretty samurai, oni, and a lot of b'aaaaaawwwww. I love that.

Tell me about Necoco's canon. XD

Love Neko is by Mishima Kazuhiko, manga-ka behind such hilarious/disturbing titles as Papa I Love You and Love Letter of Flowers, all available on Manga Fox. She's big on student/teacher romance, but that isn't her defining trait: she's my favorite manga-ka because not only is her art gorgeous, but she cannot stand traditional yaoi tropes. Height rule? Hell no. Hatred of women? Nope. Twelve-year-old-looking miserable ukes? Nooooo. It's fucking brilliant.

Necoco's canon in particular is the story of Eiji, a socially inept high school teacher who orders a fully-automated love doll from the internet, expecting a hot little catgirl. What he gets instead is Necoco, who not only somehow breaks into his apartment to introduce himself, but thoroughly noncons him within seconds of meeting him. It's about Necoco learning about himself through mistakes--big mistakes--and Eiji doing the same. Sure, it's triggering, since a lot of the sex is borderline, but it's not really about the sex, to me. It's about trying to figure out what you want, you really want, in another person. Sort of high-brow for porn, but hey.

Also I find the short catboy robot topping the shit out of the six-foot man hilarious. Sue me.

How did you get into Hakuouki? I've never even heard of it.

Itachi-mun told me about it. She probably pinged on it because she's got a thing for Shinsengumi stuff. Samurai + vampires + most of the characters are pretty much historically obligated to die tragically.

So I was there. |D

So you mentioned liking sci-fi? What are some of your favorites?

Oooohhh jeez.

The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. LeGuin
The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. LeGuin
I, Robot by Isaac Asimov (or any of his essays)
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
World War Z by Max Brooks
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
The World Inside by Robert Silverberg
Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card
1984 by George Orwell

These aren't in any particular order. If I had to pick three... probably Ender's Game, World War Z, and The World Inside. Lathe of Heaven and I, Robot tie for fourth. Ffffff you should read all of these if you haven't already, I can pimp them at you if you want. ♥ ♥ ♥

What was the last book you read in your spare time? Did you like it? Why or why not?

I've read several of those!

Let's see... the last book I read for pleasure was Soulless, and I bought it on a whim while picking up books for school and just seeing it. And... uh. I liked it if I pretended it was high concept satire of the whole urban fantasy genre. Otherwise, it was pretty cliche. I don't know, maybe it really was! It could be!

It's sort of sad that was the last book I read for fun, actually. I like reading for fun.

...I am failing at questions.

Yeah, the last book I finished for fun was actually I, Robot, and that was forever ago. Stupid college.

No rush! ♥

So what's your favorite camp moment for your characters?

Hikyou and Skwisgaar don't have any, yet--too new. But the others...

Smellerbee giving Zuko the "if you hurt my little girl" talk re: Jet. Their entire dynamic is hilarious to me. I just love playing such a toppy, rageful young girl. It fulfills a need I didn't know I had.

Necoco "de-aging" into his beta form and propositioning anything with legs. Speaking like a robot was an interesting exercise, and I do so enjoy making characters uncomfortable.

ZEX... man. Everything with ZEX. /favoritism HONESTLY one of my favorite parts of playing him is when he actually manages to win people over, and he has no idea. Ever. It's amazing. Papillon, Rose, Taiki... these people really super like him, and he just. Derps. Because that's not how it works, he should have to seduce them all the time!!

What are your characters least favorite Camp effects?

I watched Necoco's post where he deaged. I just... couldn't decide who to tag with. It was sort of hilarious.

Neji has dealt with so many of them, he's not bothered that much anymore. He's more bothered by ones that affect his head than transformations, at this point. That said, he really dislikes when other people deage, and he worries he'll go back to himself at about twelve or so. That would suck.

Hatter ...unbothered.

Ion will absolutely hate it when I finally get around to genderswitching him, because no one will be able to tell. Poor boy.

Okita hated the whole vampires going crazy thing. Haaaaaate. It's the only one he's had to deal with.

ZEX's thoughts on his relationship with Taiki?

takeme2urpants December 1 2010, 05:38:33 UTC
KER-ESSAY

So... ZEX actually had a Master Plan going into his relationship with Taiki. They'd both just gotten out of a bad/awkward place with David Nassau, but ZEX was game to find someone else eventually, after he'd had some time to heal. Taiki... well. David was the first person Taiki'd pursued in that way ever, in his entire life, so his rejection felt a lot harsher, and in fact turned him off the whole idea of dating at all. ZEX thought that would be both a shame and a waste: there's a reason people seek out love everywhere, and that's because it is-presumably--one of life's great pleasures. ZEX had never been in love, but he wanted to keep going until he maybe found it, or at least found someone to deal with all of his lust. He approached Taiki with the idea that, if he helped Taiki see that dating wasn't so horrible all of the time, Taiki would be open to happiness in the future! Aaand it would distract ZEX from his own issues, which was at the time super important to him. He really hates his issues.

Unfortunately/fortunately, for ZEX, Taiki is both a) super, even hyper-observant, and b) really, really hot. Not only did Taiki frequently call ZEX on his bullshit, he followed up on it, worrying that he was using ZEX as a “rebound” from David or just generally being shitty. ZEX, incidentally, has very little self-worth socially, so this was a huge boner-inducing shock for him.

...”Boner-inducing shock” is basically this whole relationship, in retrospect. Taiki kept being interesting, and open, and sometimes willing to make out with him, and supportive, and mad flexible, and a great friend, and then... the Cultist event happened. And Taiki was kidnapped. And ZEX went into Admiral Mode, which just sort of happens in times of stress-he doles out orders, he loses his sense of humor, and he shoots to kill. Now, this is exactly why he has so many self-worth issues: the famous war hero that his people worshiped is the same person that he hates, and that he has to be in order to protect what he loves. During all of this emotional insecurity and borderline dis-associative identity disorder, he realized, hey, I am really upset about this Taiki thing. Am I in love with him? Nooooo, of course not, how could I beOH MY GOD I'M IN LOVE WITH HIM THIS WAS NOT PART OF MY MASTER PLAN

Right now, ZEX is just trying to be someone he thinks Taiki could love. Even though Taiki has said that he loves him! As a friend, but, you know. ZEX takes what he can get. He fundamentally doesn't understand how anyone could love him as he is now, since he's such a mess of repression and OCD and sexual issues-he is pretty sure that he is at least a little insane-so... in short, Taiki shouldn't love him right now. He should love the Ultimate ZEX that ZEX is trying to become (the flirty, giggly, happy one who is normally in Camp, but even more so). Eventually, ZEX hopes to become a better person, and hopes that Taiki finds happiness... maybe even with him.

tl;dr WE'RE DATING AND IT'S... AWESOME?! I GUESS?!

Tell me about this Neji/Itachi business. I did not start stalking threads until relatively recently, to my shame.

...Oh jeesus you just want me to have to write a longer essay than you.

Um.

Okay, I'll try to keep this from breaking the word limit for a comment. Okay, so, Itachi and Neji were together for a long time. A really, really long time. Itachi was one of the first people Neji met in camp, and they ended up striking an alliance early on. Itachi was looking for Neji's cousin to help him find an evil sentient eyeball (rly), and Neji offered his help as an alternative, to try to protect her. But as it turned out, they hit it off. Their relationship, early on, was pretty much based on making ¬.¬ faces at all the crazy things that happen in camp, and helping each other deal with camp effects. After a few months of that and building UST, they admitted their attraction for each other. And. Things happened. They had some trouble with Neji's superiors, and Itachi... beat the Hokage gambling. To continue their relationship. Yeah.

Then Itachi's backstory came out, and that was a little weird, because by that point Neji and Itachi were already in a relationship and Neji loved him despite thinking he was a killer, so things had been strange. Understanding his motivations in some ways made loving him more comfortable, but it also meant Neji saw him as... a sort of hero, really. And that changed the dynamic of things for him some. He had a hard time dealing with how he felt about the lying since it actually meant his boyfriend was a much better person than he realized. So...?

But still, they kind of worked it out. Until Itachi started being really close with his friends outside of his relationship with Neji (Raikou and Raphael, mostly) and Neji got jealous and insecure. He tried to deal with the fact he felt left out, and thought they were sort of addressing it. If in a really fail ninja way, because Ninjas are bad at emotions okay. Theeeeen things became awkward after vacation last year. Sasuke--Itachi's brother--is the enemy of Neji's village, and Itachi sort of froze up over that, despite the fact Neji was very clear he had no intention of acting on that in camp. Then Neji caught Itachi and Raph in a compromising position. After. Like. Over a month of not talking, they finally started addressing things, and Neji took Itachi back with the intention of repairing their relationship.

But that did not turn out so well. They had some miscommunications and fights, and in late September, Itachi ended their relationship.

I think that sums up things up? It's hard now. Neji isn't sure where they stand. They were together for a long time, and love each other. They were close. But they were never really friends. And Neji doesn't feel like a friend. But they're not together romantically and they're not allies, and Neji is having a hard time processing what they actually are and how that means they can or should interact. It might be easier if he just let go entirely, but Itachi's the most important person he has in camp still. So what'cha do?

DID THAT EVEN MAKE SENSE?
