Well it's been a positively crazy couple of weeks. Surprisingly little in the way of debauchery has taken place, but just a carefree good time with good friends in lots of fun places.
Week 1: Charlottesville, VA
csh_rhubarb had a little BBBQ, so I took a road trip with
jellopixy and
kieliszek down to the deep (enough) south. I got the chance to share my infamous turkey spanakopita burgers, which went over pretty well - lesson learned being don't use too much olive oil or they'll fall apart faster than Lindsay Lohan's career. Oh snap.
Week 2: Chicago, IL
I went journeying with a group of 17 queers to the midwest's largest street festival, Market Days, held in boystown. I had an amazing time and fell in love with Chicago, though I'm told I'd feel differently if I went there in February. Rochester prepared me for winter pretty much anywhere except Antarctica, and even then it wouldn't come as much of an adjustment - I think I can handle a little midwest winter.
Week 3: Rehoboth Beach, DE
Now, I've never been much of a beach person (see: outer banks, Mallorca, Ibiza), but perhaps I was just going under the wrong circumstances. If you're going with a group of friends and you just want to get drunk and screw around in a speedo, it turns out the beach can be a lot of fun. Granted, I wouldn't touch the water with a 10-foot pole, but others looked to be having a grand old time.
Up this week is !welcome back for all the CSH folks in the mid-Atlantic, then Labor Day is a bit of a toss up. I kinda want to go to New York - get a cheap hotel somewhere not too sketchy and just have a good time. I'm slightly broke, but I told myself that I have to travel for Labor Day since I've actively squandered every other holiday weekend since returning to the US. Oh, to have 6 weeks of vacation again. The week after Labor Day I'm back in Charlottesville, and beyond that I think I'm locking myself in my room and telling Bank of America to shoot me on site if I attempt to access my savings.
