Book review! Movies reviews!

So, since I'm still working on my mad HTML skillz you're going to have to suffer some picture inserting today. :D Let's start with book review since there's only one book and there are two movies.

Dull Boy by Sarah Cross

Firstly, let me take a moment to gaze at the cover. ... I love it! But back to book.

This is a fantastic story about Avery, a boy from the neighbor, not the most handsome, not the solitary type either. He's just one of the pack that does wrestling and things alike. You know this type of guys. Now, Avery lately hasn't been in the good graces of his mates. Something to do with ditching them in favor of secretly patrolling the neighbor Batman-style. But really, it's not like it's easy to explain that - quoting uncle Ben - with great power comes great responsibility. And Avery HAS power. Enough to make even lifting a car a light exercise.

But it's not exactly going to help him with his friends, is it? I mean, he cannot tell them anything because if the word gets out then Hello! dear people in white gowns! But luckily, he's not the only one with this kind of problem...

Becoming Jane

I really should start watching new movies instead of watching the ones that are 4-5 years old. But then again, it takes me some time to get used to some ideas and it's not like we have a movie theater in my town. ;D

This movie is, obviously, about young life of Jane Austen and her (probable) affair with young man of doubtful fame Mr. Tom Lefroy. All through the movie authors shower us with allusions to Austin books one of many examples being Jane insulting Mr.Lefroy is a conversation while he's in fact standing behind her and hearing everything. ;D

On the whole this movie is a very pleasant watch and certainly one of those 'comfort' things. Also, the main cast is pretty/handsome. >3

Wimbledon

I had to. Really, I was so nervous about this year's Wimbledon, and got into tennis slash fandom recently so it would be abnormal if i didn't rec this film now.

This precious darling is something I found and watched a couple of years ago but still deeply love. It may be the sport they're playing but a huge part of it is the cast and the script. Two main roles are portrait by Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man, Elizabethtown, Interview with the Vampire, Mona Lisa Smile, Marie Antoinette) and Paul Bettany (The Da Vinci Code, A Beautiful Mind)(you probably don't know him anyway, but he's AWESOME!!!).

On the scene appears Peter (Bettany) - a professional tennis player, but the kind of one-time-star who only ever won one tournament and that was long ago and doesn't matter anymore. Somehow Peter got a wild card (a special kind of invite for player with lower ranking) to play in Wimbledon. Knowing that he's not doing good he decides to play on the grass for the last time and then retire. Enter Lizzie - young and freaking successful American pro who's a no.1 candidate to win this year. They paths cross, an affair blossoms and the game begins. And there's lots of PEOPLE CLAD IN WHITE. (Because that's essence of Wimbledon, fresh grass, people sweating in white collared shirts, and strawberries with cream (YUM!).)
