Books! Book reviews!

Since I've got time on my hands lately, and my hands on a handful of wonderful books, here's something that may aspire to the title of book review. But do not be mistaken, it probably won't be capable of actually becoming a review. Also, you all know I'm helpless when it comes to LJ cuts. So do not hurt me if I will have to do edits or if in the end there won't be any cuts. Please.

Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan

This is a book I have been waiting for for almost a year. You may wonder where I got this sudden idea of buying book which hasn't even been published yet. Here's the deal - Sarah was a fanfic writer. And I do not mean just any writer, she was a terrific fanfic writer. My personal favourite for whose updates I waited every day. She's witty, hilariously funny and extraordinary. And it shows in her writing. When she was still in the fandom she had more than 4,00 watchers. I think this means something, doesn't it?

Demon's Lexicon is a story of two brothers - Tall & Handsome & Mysterious Nick and Beloved by Cats & Old Ladies & Children Alan. In truth Alan never misses when using his trusty gun and Nick may actually be hiding his sword under the sink... Just in case sorcerers ask demons to attack them again. Which they do. Add in another pair of siblings in which younger brother is heading towards Not Quick and Very Nasty Death and his older sister who's the kind of strong and fearless heroine we all like and we have quite a story. An amazing story. This books sucks you in and spits you out after more than 300 pages. And then you do the same thing as me. You wait for the next part.

Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

I bought this book because someone on my f-list receed it. I think it should be only right for me to rec it also. Because it deserves the pimping. It's glorious. Our protagonist is an Evil Mastermind whose goal is to enlarge his already HUGE wealth by stealing gold from fairies. ... That's right - fairies. You may think 'Which respectable Evil Genius would believe in fairies enough to try and actually steal from them?' the answer is - a twelve year old one. But do not think him naive, Artemis is a heir to a family of great traditions when it comes to being Bad, Cunning and Above the Law. His dad did it, his granddad did it, I think even their pets did it. On his journey to becoming even wealthier criminal he's helped by Butler his trusty companion, bodyguard and butler. Against them stands the best team of fairy police there is. Who will win? I already know, you have to read the book to find out. ;]

I would also rant about the beauty of Pride and Prejudice (which I finally read YAY! and which I frequently stopped reading to give myself a few minutes to squeal at the marvelous language Austen used) but I think this is not a book that needs recommending. but if you wish to gush over it feel free to comment. I will join in with greatest pleasure. ^___^
