Okay, I'm a little happy right now. :) I have an in-person job interview this Monday at 10:00 in Seattle. The job only pays $23/hr, but it's better than unemployment, and FAR better than nothing.
Also, I have a phone interview with a company down in Sunnyvale for a position that pays a minimum of $70k/yr with benefits! I've already had an initial phone screening this past Thursday with their HR person who, by the way, was incredibly nice and understanding of my employment history situation.
The Seattle job is one that's been toying with me since last July, when I first interviewed there. Then they had some kind of personnel shift or uprising or reorganization or something and I kinda got lost in the shuffle never to hear anything about it. A few months later the same position came up, and I asked to be submitted for it. Again, I never heard anything. I didn't even get an interview that time. So last week, one of the headhunting/recruiting agencies I work with calls me and asks if I'd be interested in this position they have with a company in Seattle. I thought to myself "it'd be a riot if he says ." (I'm being careful here to not be too specific.) Then he said it. I was floored. He told me the job title, and I didn't even let him get through the description of the job's duties before I told him to submit me. That was last Monday or Tuesday. I was informed of the interview on Friday.
Within 2 hours of that, I got an email from the HR lady at the company down in Sunnyvale telling me that they wanted to talk to me in a phone interview on 4/2 at 11:00am.
I expect to be employed within the next two weeks, hopefully less. I wouldn't mind the Seattle job, but I *REALLY* want the job in Sunnyvale.
