Sparkling Report!
The first thing to know before I go in depth in this report is what a spark-bond is. A Spark-bond is created when two separate sparks merge into one momentarily. Though two sparks cannot stay merged the after effect is a bond between them that is life long. I’ll go into the nature of a Spark-bond another time.
Onto what this report is about, Sparklings. We cybertronians have long believed that the only way to create another of our kind was through the All Spark and with it now gone we are doomed to extinction. I do not believe this to be true. During my many scouting missions to find more energy sources for the Decepticon Cause I found many planets populated by mechanical life very similar to ours, all of which functioned and flourished without the All Spark. How could this be? Eventually I decided further study was needed so when I reached another planet populated with Transformers like us I stayed and started to ask questions. It was on the planet Edaps where a natural transformer agreed to teach me about the “Miracle of Robotic life.”
Conception occurs during spark bonding. When two Transformers spark-bond an excess of energy will build up, usually the energy is re-absorbed into the partners after the bonding but sometimes it will form another, immature Spark called a Sparkling. The Sparkling will then attach it’s self to the strongest of the parents to mature unless one of the parents is a Femme then the Sparkling will always attach to the femme. While it’s not know for sure why this happens it has been suggested that a femmes unique design is better suited for carrying the Sparkling and increases the rate of survival. This may explain why we have Femmes in the first place.
After Conception the host parent will have to remain in a constant restive state. The task of carrying a second spark is a dangerous and draining. Fortunately the gestation period is relatively short, only a Deca-cycle (six earth months.) In the mean time the second parent will build the body for the sparkling.
Delivery is probably the most dangerous period of all for both the new Spark and the host parent as the parent has to force themselves to release the bond it shares with the new Spark. A trained medic and the second parent need to be there the medic for obvious reasons and the parent to help with the separation of the spark from it’s host parent. Once the bond has been severed the medic will use special tools to remove the new Spark and place it in it’s new body.
The new transformer usually comes online a few earth minutes after it’s spark has been placed in it’s new body. Once online it will be at the intellectual level of a earthling 5 year old. It will be asked it’s name an function. After that the rest is up to the parents.
