I was sitting in the car, on my way to the mall earlier this evening, when I was struck by the most ingenious idea for one of my college essays. I wanted to rip my hair out, because I had spent a good part of the day sitting and staring out the window, trying to get inspiration for these essays and coming up with absolutely NOTHING, yet the minute I leave the vicinity of my computer I am struck over the head with this lovely idea that I was unable to put into words at the time because I was in a moving vehicle instead of behind a keyboard. So of course, as soon as I get back to the computer, my inspiration has abandoned me and I'm left with an empty, barren imagination once more.

Sigh.

This week has been eventful, although I would rather rip off my toenails than sit here and describe it in detail for a bunch of people who couldn't possibly care less. I don't blame you if you really don't care; I wouldn't give half a scorpion's ass if one of my friends outlined EVERY LITTLE DETAIL of EVERY DAY OF THEIR LIVES. That would drive me up the wall.

Anyway, the important thing is that marching band officially ended this week, in my case--FOREVER. And no, I did not cry. Amazingly enough, I bottled it up long enough to put up a stoic and unemotional facade in front of my bandmates while on the inside I was blubbering like a toddler.

We performed one last time in the auditorium (minus marching, of course). It was gorgeous. Then I gave out a few more awards and then came the surprise that I had planned for Mr. Fischer--the small ensemble performance of "Amazing Grace". Not a dry eye in the house (except mine. Duh.)

I don't feel like explaining why Amazing Grace is so important to our band. I will explain at one point, I'm sure, but I don't want to right now because it'll make me upset that the season is over and then I'll get in a bad mood, and when I get in a bad mood, people get hurt. Not necessarily physically, but emotionally. (I'll give you a cookie if you can tell me who I just quoted.) (And don't look in my AIM profile, asshats.)

And that was that. We went to Baskin Robbins/Dunkin Donuts afterwards, and my coffee got a little overexcited.

I have an amazing family and amazing friends. And an amazing umbrella sitting in my car, which saved my hair today when I was walking into the mall.

And that is that.
