AHOY!

Well, alot's been happening since my last entry. (That sounds like the intro of a chapter in one of those classic adventure stories where the main character is traveling as a stowaway on a pirate ship with only his diary for company.)

Overall, the first week of school wasn't bad. Lots of homework and not a whole lot of sleep, but that's nothing new to me. It feels like nothing whatsoever has changed since last year. In a way it's nice to fall back into the natural, rhythmic routine that I've established for myself over the past three years.

Just because I know you won't be able to get through the rest of your life without knowing a few details (insert derogatory, sarcastic noise here), here's a brief, Rhea-style rundown of my week.

Tuesday: Same classes as Monday, with the exception of Calculus C 4th period instead of English 12 AP. Calculus blows. Lots of numbers and letters. Brain overload. Went to Subway after school with Andy and Kelly, had tuna. Went to rehearsal afterwards to watch winds run through music. Nearly tripped over trombone.

Wednesday: Wore a white skirt for some mind-boggling reason. Suffered wedgie trauma. Went to Barnes & Noble after school with Kelly to work on homework. Ended up completing a total of one line of Music Theory homework during the two hours in which we were there. Returned to school for rehearsal. Got new show music; shit brick due to happiness. (Not really...that's gross.)

Thursday: Early morning NHS Executive Board meeting. Very bad mood. Was extensively mocked by "friends" and "teacher" during Music Theory for being anal retentive about drawing my treble clefs (don't ask). Spent unholy hours in guidance office after school doing secretary work for NHS. Practiced all-state flute music. Went to rehearsal and nearly ran out of creative ideas for offensive words with which to mark Andy's spot on the field. Got home. Fell asleep during Bush's acceptance speech at the RNC. Was irritated at self next morning.

Friday: Wore same tank top as Emily without even knowing it. Started discussing religion in English; got in very argumentative mood. Shouted at people during NHS meeting after school. Went to drumline sectional to learn stands music; discovered amusement of speaking in a lisp. Went to Wendy's with Andy and ate lots of salty fries. Got in car to go home; found power washer consuming all the backseat space in the VW Beetle and felt it necessary to squish into the 2.3 inches of space between box and window. Held breath for 20 minute ride home. Good practice for playing flute.

Saturday: Hoo boy. Very big day. Rehearsal in the morning, quick lunch, then on with the toy soldier uniforms and out to the field for first football game of season. Eek. Performed only 1/4 of the show. Stood in place for the rest and played cadence, parade tune, and fight song. Nerve-wracking experience. First time conducting the opener. With drum on. Ouch. Went to Bennigan's afterwards with some band kids. Sang loudly and horrendously in the car while Kelly laughed at me on the way to Andy's house. Attempted to learn to play pool. Failed spectacularly. Watched Danny play Grand Theft Auto. Came home and sneezed for several hours.

Anyhow. I hope that this entry has enriched your life. I have no doubt in my mind that it has.

Peace!
