A new drawing, completed over several evenings. I usually only spend one evening or session on a drawing, rarely coming back to do more a day or two later. This one I wanted to be quite large, and I have drawn this same figure/idea several dozen times I'm sure. I did several roughs but this is a final, finished piece, and has exactly the haughty expression I was trying to achieve.
It's fun to try and achieve different fabric textures using just tone, and no colour. Inspired by the character of Hatsumomo from "Memoirs of a Geisha". It's photographed from above so forgive the glare and slight blurriness.
