[drabbles] Shards (C3), Always Watching (C4), The One (H4), Resolve (C3)

Jun 17, 2018 22:05

I've returned from an abyss (that included a full-clear of Haruka 3 Ultimate, the first two Amnesia games, and much Dragon Quest X) to continue the side character stories as part of the Year of Haruka & Corda. Some of these games I have not touched in a while, so at times of uncertainty on details I erred on the side of being vague. If/when I revisit them (looking at you, Vita rerelease of all the Corda3 games..........argh!) I might edit as I see fit.

Title: Shards
Fandom: Kin'iro no Corda 3 Another Sky feat. Amane (SPOILERS)
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Corda belongs to Kure-sensei, KoeiTecmo, Ruby Party, etc.
Notes: Year of Corda: Hasekura Sora. (Actual birthday: 4/15) Sora's story comes first because he's the older twin, sorry Nia.

Shards

It's not like he wants to be doing this. In fact he would rather not, given the choice.

But someone has to, and who else is there? Toono? Sora scoffs to himself at the thought of Toono being able to actually rip a maestro field seed out of someone only to shatter it into precious little shards. Toono can barely stomach the idea of it being done to anyone at all.

But Toono, the poor bleeding heart, needs this more than those fools who parade their music just to win a stupid trophy. Who cares about some idiotic competition when someone's life hangs in the balance? Even if it's a losing battle, Sora unwillingly found himself committed to Toono's cause and made his own choice.

Besides, Sora's way was quicker and infinitely more lucrative than their after school jobs.

Title: Always Watching
Fandom: Kin'iro no Corda 4 (no game spoilers)
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Corda belongs to Kure-sensei, KoeiTecmo, Ruby Party, etc.
Notes: Year of Corda: Hasekura Nia. (Actual birthday: 4/15)

Always Watching

The noise of some commotion drifted upstairs to where Nia dozed on the couch in the hall, basking in the fall sunshine. Footsteps followed, and when she cracked open one violet eye just a fraction Nia spied Kohinata quietly sneaking to her dorm room, the younger Kisaragi doing a poor job of hiding behind her. They froze upon seeing her laying there, but after a few moments Kohinata mimed a sleeping pose and waved for Kyouya to come with her.

Nia remained still and waited for the pair to disappear into Kohinata's room. Once the door closed behind them she silently rose to her feet and crept to press her ear against it, listening intently to the goings-on inside.

Title: The One
Fandom: Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 4
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Haruka belongs to Mizuno-sensei, KoeiTecmo, Ruby Party, etc.
Notes: Year of Haruka: Eka. (Actual birthday: 4/15)

The One

A melody floated on the wind, and Eka immediately recognized the voice though the emotions carried in the notes were quite foreign to his ears. The song spoke tenderly of hues of blue and gold that had no place in Eka's world of darkness, pierced only by a blazing heat-color that belonged solely to his master. He shook his head slightly at the sentiment, long blond braids shifting against his shroud.

It wasn't that he couldn't comprehend the emotions that filled the younger, inferior Tsuchigumo's song. Eka simply knew -- and fully embraced -- his role and his place in Nasatya's plans. Creating distance between himself and Tooya would only serve to make it easier to complete his assigned tasks.

There is nothing I wouldn't do for Nasatya-sama. You understand, don't you?

Title: Resolve
Fandom: Kin'iro no Corda 3
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Corda belongs to Kure-sensei, KoeiTecmo, Ruby Party, etc.
Notes: Year of Corda: Iori Kouhei. (Actual birthday: 5/19)

Resolve

They walked in silence along the riverbank until as one they stopped and turned toward the flowing water without any communication at all. Beside him Arata grew visibly antsy, though even the boisterous first-year did not speak.

The weight of their loss and its accompanying uncertainty regarding their club was nearly as stifling as the summer heat. Even the beauty of Sendai couldn't ease the burden, and Iori was sure he'd never felt heavier or more helpless. Guilt prickled at him, and tears began to form in his eyes.

"It'll be all right, we'll find a way," Yagisawa finally stated, a firmness to his words that momentarily caused Iori to wonder how their captain could be so certain. Then that moment passed as Iori blinked away his tears, and peripherally he saw the other club members nod as they too accepted Yagisawa's words as truth.
