summary: What really happened while Will was on the Pearl, during the events of Dead Man’s Chest.

Will made his way below deck, cursing quietly as he went. That was far too close. He wandered until he came to the room where they stored all of the supplies. It was one of the few places, where he was certain to find Mr. Gibbs. Joshamee was never very far away from the Rum supply. He found the pirate, sitting on a crate and staring out the porthole.

“Ah, Mr. Turner, what do I owe the pleasure?” Gibbs gestured for him to sit on a near by barrel, and offered him the bottle he had in one hand. William took the bottle, but didn’t take a drink.

“I know you know where we’re going, why isn’t anyone telling me.” William sounded defiant as ever.

“Will, there’s only one rule while being on a ship,” Gibbs stopped a moment to wet his lips, eyes flickering to the bottle in Will’s hand. “When you’re part of a crew, you follow Cap’n orders. And Jack has been stern about everything being on a need to know.”

Will sighed; remembering the bottle he took a long swig. The alcohol burned on the way down his throat, so much that it made his eyes water. Choking, he handed the bottle back to Gibbs and sat down. Joshamee smiled and patted the younger man on the back, setting the bottle on the floor next to them. “I really wish I could help ya, Will, I do,” something changed in his featured, suddenly he looked nervous, “to be honest, ‘m not so keen on where we’re headed neither, but-”

“Captain’s orders, I know.” William sounded resigned, “Can you at least tell me why you’re so nervous about wherever we’re headed?

“It’s not where, lad” Gibbs fidgeted “It’s who.”

***
Will stumbled out of the storage room, leaving a snoring Gibbs behind. Between the 2 of them, Joshamee and he had finished a couple bottles of rum. William was feeling quite warm, and he was just on the edge of complete double vision. His disappointment with not being able to get any information out of Gibbs had melted away, and was replaced with determination. He knew that being as inebriated as he currently was, he would be able to get that final push towards his desires. He could hear the internal voice, quietly mocking him for not taking what was so obviously being offered to him. Jack had always shown an interest in him; right from the first moment they met in Port Royal.

William had always been aware of his attraction to Captain Jack Sparrow, but had easily silenced it. He knew that he was in love with Elizabeth, but there was always something in the back of his mind that had wondered about the pirate. Being on this ship now had been almost torture, what with all of the friendly touches Jack tended to bestow upon him when they were standing close enough. Every one had left Will wanting more, he wondered what it would be like to grab Jack by the hair and kiss him breathless. As scandalous as the thoughts were, Will had found himself daydreaming more than once about the pirate. All of which would usually end in tragedy, or at least a great slap from Elizabeth.

Will had been in this situation once before; when he and Jack had commandeered the HMS Interceptor, and sailed to Tortuga. During that journey, when it was just the two of them on board, Jack had not been the least bit subtle about his interest in William. One night he had had a bit too much rum and had crawled into bed with Will; stark naked, aside from his hat. William has punched him, and stormed out. Too ashamed to admit what he really wanted to do with a ready and willing Jack in his bed. After that night the advances didn’t stop, but they seemed to come less often. Also, Will pondered as he made his way on deck, they seemed to be coming more and more when the Captain was half sober.

The deck was quiet. All of the crew members where below deck, aside from Mr. Cotton and his parrot who were at the helm. As Will staggered by, Cotton gave him a nod and his parrot squawked something about swabbing the deck. Will paid no attention and ventured towards the Captains quarters. When he reached the door he pushed it open without bothering to knock.

“Jack, we’ve been needun ta talk!” He slurred, then collapsed against the cabin door laughing. When he got his bearings again, he noticed that he hadn’t heard anything in return. He looked around and found his Captain passed out over his maps, a half empty bottle in one hand. The image sobered Will slightly, he had never seen Jack asleep before. There was something different about the way he looked, something that Will wasn’t sure of. He looked different, younger, but there was something else that he couldn’t put his finger on. He made his way to the table to get a closer look.

Will leaned on the table, taking in the man snoring soundly in front of him. He couldn’t help the small smile that currently spread across his face. On closer inspection, Jack looked younger when he was asleep. All of the hard lines and scars on his face, seemed to fade in the flickering candlelight. He realized what he couldn’t put his finger on before. When he was asleep, Jack lost none of his allure; and this is what was bothering Will. He once believed that if you saw someone at their most vulnerable it could show your true feelings for the person. Now, as he stood watching the slumbering pirate, he wondered what it would feel like to run his fingers down Jack’s face. He wanted to run his tongue over Jack’s bottom lip and devour him. He wanted to take so much, and wasn’t sure how ready he was to deal with that.

Because it wasn’t just lust he was feeling, it was something more. Something that could be disguised as admiration, but could easily fall into something even more messy and complicated.

He thought about reaching for the bottle in Jack’s hand, but thought better of it. William could feel the rum taking full affect of his body, he sat down heavily in the other available chair at the table. As soon as he sat down, William had just enough time to put his head down on the table before he passed out.
