>> Vriska & Nepeta
>> Two weeks after
this>> Nepeta makes an oopsie.
Nepeta: Nepeta had secretly been working at the Honeybee Inn for going on two weeks now. Through patience and just enough force she had landed herself a job there as a greeter, and occasionally a bouncer. The latter job was much more preferable since she did not have to wear such an atrocious outfit, but she only ever took it up when she knew that Corneo would not be around. He wasn't a particular fan of strong or aggressive women, so almost every other day she found herself in that costume and showed more than it hid.
At least she'd managed to find a way not to perform, and every day he would talk to her for a bit, compliment him, and she acted (much to her disgust) in the way she knew he liked his women. She may be young, but she knew she was at a bit of a disadvantage because of how she looked. bit by bit though she could see how his eyes lingered.
It was revolting, sickening and left her feeling like a piece of trash. Nepeta had taken a lot of things into account--the dangers, what might happen, how others would react but she had never thought about how she might feel. Like she was less than human, like she wasn't worth the dirt under their shoes. That more than anything else was what made her usual smile a tad less brighter, the cheer with which she usually greeted people slightly less enthusiastic.
The plan had come together surprisingly well, and thanks to Sollux many of the holes her idea had had was patched up, but this was not something she had accounted for.
Despite this, she was not giving up. And hey, she was raking in some money--which when added to that that she made from her scavenging amounted to a decent amount. Maybe she would treat herself today but first she wanted to drop off this stupid costume at her home. She was back in her regular clothing, having forgotten the headband. The rest she carried in her arms, covered in a plastic bag. She entered the two room, ramshackle hut that served as her and Karkat's house.
Vriska: She had put off heading to Vantas's house all day out of sheer not wanting to do it. She could have her lethargic days and enjoy them, too. Yet she knew these papers were important to the angry bastard and she'd be damned if she let herself get yelled by him because she didn't feel like giving him the damn folder. How stupidly tedious.
Hair pinned back and a portion of a cigarette hanging between her lips she came up to the door, knocked once before letting herself in. She didn't feel like waiting.
"Hey, Vantas! Get your ass out here."
:Nepeta: Nepeta jumped when Vriska entered not too far behind her.
"Christ, you scared me Vwhiskers. Ever heard of knocking?" Of course she wasn't mad, more teasing. That she had a temper was no lie, but it was more the kind that didn't come out often, but when it did it was mighty.
"Karkat's not home right now." She had only just arrived, but she was sure of that. She wouldn't have come in with the costume--which she tried to be discreet about---if she thought he might be.
"What did you need?"
Vriska: She rolled the cigarette between her lips, eyes falling up to where the headband still sat on Nepeta's head. Her eyebrow quirked in amusement when she placed the costume accessory and her lips pulled up into a smile when she looked back at Nepeta.
"Just got some papers for him. Long day at work?"
Nepeta: Nepeta blinked, looking puzzled. She was still unawares of the prop and automatically assumed that by 'work' Vriska meant her scavenging. That was an odd way to refer to it but. She gave a small nod.
"Purrty long, yea, but I was able to rake in quite a lot today!"
She moved towards the second room---though really it was only partitioned by a curtain, so it was a stretch calling that---where she and Karkat slept.
"If you want to leave those on the table that'd be great. I'll make sure he takes a look at them."
Vriska: "Yeah, I bet." She was still smiling, following after her. Leaning against the door frame she didn't move yet to set the papers down.
"Do you enjoy it?"
Nepeta: She nodded, going over to a chest next to her bed and unlocking it. "I do! It's purrty fun. Kind of exhausting sometimes and you run into some purrrrty weird stuff out sometimes but I guess that's to be expected." Strange as they looked, they were still fortunate that their mutations had not cost them their minds, and that they still retained a humanoid shape. Some people and creatures out there were not so fortunate so monsters on the roads between the sectors were hardly something uncommon.
