>> Gamzee & Nepeta >> Present Day >> It's time to add a new mural to the dismal slums, and today Nepeta is joined by Gamzee. Who brings a certain concoction.
[ It really did not happen often enough, Gamzee agreed on that. The slums really needed them some color, a little brightening up here and there. He could really get behind what the little sister was doing, so it really didn't take much for him to decide he'd tag along and lend a hand. After all, two people could get so much more work done.
Though it would probably have been a better idea for him to not bring the odd concoction with him, along with a pail of pant he'd discovered on his last outing. It would take some wrangling to get it open, but better than nothing.
Ambling along to the alley, swinging the bucket in one hand a little and holding the bottle with the oddly colored liquid with the other, a large and lopsided smile spread across his painted face. ]
Hey there, sister. Hope you weren't waiting none, but I'm here and ready to get my motherfucking paint on.
[Nepeta looked up and grinned when Gamzee arrived, shaking her head.]
Not long!
[Gamzee was always a fun one to hang around with. She worried a lot about his health, but unlike certain others she rather enjoyed his laid back and and loopy nature.
Her ears perked up in curiosity at both the bucket and paint.]
Just a lil'. Seems like someone left the poor ol' bucket out all alone. Lid's a bit rusty, but I figure we can get the motherfucker open in no time.
[ Today it seemed like Gamzee was in typical health, at ease, which he was thankful for. He was definitely a little, well, baked at the moment, but that wasn't about to hinder these painting shenanigans any. No, if anything he figured they'd help.
He set the bottle down and leaned a shoulder into the wall Nepeta had in mind for the mural, reaching into a back pocket to get the screwdriver he'd nabbed from the base to pry the thing open. ]
[ He looked up from where he was leaning against the wall, bent over with the can between his knees, the head of the screwdriver wedged in the gap between can and lid. ]
That, lil' sister, is a miraculous elixir. Made it myself. Motherfucker's this bubbly thing that hits the spot mighty fast.
[ So basically, Gamzee, you made Faygo booze? ... Of course you did, who are we kidding. ]
[Nepeta opened it and gingerly took a whiff before jerking her head back]
Wow, you weren't kidding about hitting the spot fast. That's some strong stuff. [She closed it back up, very curious to try it indeed but deciding to wait for Gamzee.] Where'd you learn how to make stuff like that?
[she set about opening the paints she had brought]
Haha, yeah, Vriska says the same thing. But I had all this crazy free time on my hands when I was 'round your age. That's when I got my bake on, and from there I guess it motherfucking escalated. [ Gamzee laughed a little, though was briefly interrupted by a hoomph as he finally got the lid off. ]
Aw shit, we got us some sunshiney brightness in a can today.
[She finished opening hers, and perked up at that.]
More yellow?
[She hopped on over to peek inside and grinned widely] There's never enough yellow to go around. [Suns were one thing she had a habit of drawing a lot. She'd never seen the actual sun before--doubted anyone born in Midgar had--but that's what made them all the more precious to her.]
Shit yeah. I'd better get my explore on more often, maybe I'll get lucky and find some more.
[ He shifted the bucket carefully so that he didn't spill anything, setting it down with the rest of Nepeta's paint and slipping the screwdriver back into his pocket. ]
Can't hurt to hope a lil', anyhow. This place needs some brightening up, and more yellow'd be the trick.
[She picked up two of the brushes, handing one to Gamzee and now focused on the wall. She hadn't really thought ahead of time what she might like to paint, but hey. Sometimes you just had to let things come on their own. She tucked her own brush behind her furry ear, and plopped down so she could divide the bread between them.]
What other kinds of things did you use to do when you were my age, Gamzee?
[ Letting out a thoughtful little sound, he accepted the brush she offered him and simply stood there, examining the paints quietly. He swayed a little, briefly off-balance when he rocked back to balance on his heels for a moment. ]
I got into all sortsa trouble, 'specially with Vriska. Lotta that went kinda under the radar after meeting your brother, 'cause I don't think he woulda liked you hearing about it back then. [ He was thinking again, now, and after a moment crouched down next to her with his arms straight out over his knees. She didn't need to know the darker things, so he focused on the sillier. ] I learned how to juggle! ... kinda! Motherfucking hard, sister.
You've known Vwhiskers that long? That's purrty pawsome. How'd you two meet? [Her eyes widened a bit, imagine that. She didn't really have a lot of friends her age, but that was probably attributed to the fact that not many people down here were willing to have children. Most of them died early on--and most people weren't exactly willing to feed another mouth when they could barely sustain themselves.]
Juggling? [That seemed so very Gamzee.] You'll have to show me some day.
Hell, I done known her since we were kids. Grew up in the same neighborhood-- [ Even he used that term loosely. ] --and everything. Pretty sure she thought I was real weird when we met, but older we got the closer we were. [ It was unfortunate that Nepeta didn't get to experience the same thing, growing up with someone around the same age, but he figured he'd make up for that by hanging out with her as much as possible now. ]
Heh. Gotta be real motherfucking focused to do it without dropping nothing, but I can give it a shot after we get our paint on.
[She couldn't blame Vriska too much if that had been the case. She had thought Gamzee was pretty weird too, when she first met him, but that was just one of the many things that made her so fond of him.]
What sector did you guys grow up in?
[She offers him half of the loaf of bread and bites into her own, letting it dangle from her mouth]

[She looks at what they have. Not bad, they could make a beauty out of this wall yet.]

[ After his laughter died down a little, he considered her paint, as well. ] This wall is gonna be so spruced up, it'll be like a miracle.
