The Ultimate Adam Lambert Pimp Post of Doom Part 2

Sep 06, 2009 04:59

Where were we? Oh, that's right...

Part 1 is here.

Once again for good measure...

DISCLAIMER : This post contains tons of images, videos and articles taken from various sources on the internet, both official and fan-made (All macros are from ontd_ai. I appreciate these fierce, hysterical benches! ♥). I'd love to credit every source if I could, but I didn't exactly keep track of every single thing. Trust me, I'm not proud of this. If you own these images/videos/articles and would like me to credit you or even take them down, drop me a note and I will :)

Aaaaaaand, on with the show!

His Looks and Fashion

WORK IT, BB, WORK IT.

Rolling Stone writes, Lambert is handsome--six feet one and 185 pounds, with patrician features and sky-blue eyes--and he's unrepentant about flirting with both sexes. Even when you know that he's gay, it's hard not to find him physically attractive. And that's the way he likes it.

"I loved it this season when girls went crazy for me," Adam says. "As far as I'm concerned, it's all hot. Just because I'm not sticking it in there doesn't mean that I don't find it beautiful."

Not gonna lie, what got me hooked the first time, even before I heard him sing, was his looks. He's got this goth-emo-glam-look thing going on that is definitely right up my alley. On him, that look isn't just goth or emo or glam. It's... it's him. It's Adam Lambert. He's not emo at all, definitely just a goth on the outside and maybe glam all the way. He hates being stamped with a certain label, as he says in one of the interviews (where the hell is that video? I can't find iiit! FML.) He likes to mix it up and change things as he goes along, which makes him interesting to look at every single time.

His easily recognizable trademarks are:

His Eyeliner

Appreciate this fierce mofo!

During the Rolling Stone photoshoot. He still loves doing his own makeup for the tour, to get him in the mood.

When asked by People.com about his favorite eyeliner brand, he mentions Me by Mezghan. But in later interviews, he says whatever the makeup artists put on him. I still get the feeling he mostly does his own makeup and hair, though, unless he's under really tight schedules.

I mean, just watch this behind-the-scene vid from the Rolling Stone photoshoot. The makeup artist just sort of stands there and watches him do his own hair and makeup. SRSLY, YOU GUISE. WHAT A DIVA. Shame on him for thinking he can still do things by himself!

His Black Nail Polish

Looks like you missed a finger there, bb~

Showing off his newly painted digits outside a nail parlor during the Rolling Stone interview (Day 3).

Also during the People.com interview, he reveals his favorite brand of nailpolish, which is Black Onyx by O.P.I. I love this brand! They have gorgeous colors. Their new matte collection is lasdjfwaoefsf DO WANT! I wonder if they have Black Onyx in matte, because that'll be just perfect...

His Eye of Horus Tattoo

The eyeeee. It staaaares. It sees EVERYTHING.

This is his first tattoo. He got it right after he made it into the Top 36. The symbol is the Eye of Horus, which is meant to give him protection. Here's an excerpt of an interview with Leila Lambert (Mombert!) about her son's ink:

Q: One thing that is new is the tattoo on his wrist.
A: Yes, it's the eye of Horus and he says it means protection. When he was 16 he wanted a tattoo. He wanted to have the Cantonese word for "creative" tattooed on him. I told him, you don't need to label yourself to be creative. Instead, I got a canvas and got a neighbor to spell out the word in Cantonese, and I painted it for him and gave it to him for his 17th birthday. He still has it in his bedroom.

Q: Will there be more tattoos?
A: Yes, he wants more.

I wonder what his next tattoo will be and, most importantly, WHERE? I personally don't want him to ink more of his deliciously freckled skin, but I'm definitely curious. One thing I know for sure is that he won't be tattooing eye makeup on his eyelids (Seriously, who does that?)

@adamlambert
more rumor mill control: I have never thought about getting permanent eye makeup tattoo'd on... OUCH! :) The tabloids are HILARIOUS

His Hair

What can I say? I've got the hots for guys with emo haircuts. This is the one feature of his appearance that first drew me in. Saying that I love his hair is like saying that Lord Voldemort is kinda a bad guy. My love for his emo hair knows no boundaries, it's embarassing. And he always changes it, does things to it that makes it look somehow different every time. One of his a friends (I forgot whooo....) says that his hair never looks the same. THIS IS SCARILY TRUFAX. HOW COULD HE BE HUMAN?

Only one thing stays the same, though. The greenish-blue highlights. It started out as a bright blue streak, which he got done after he made it into the Top 36, probably around same time he got his tattoo. Then, if I remember correctly, sometime after AI and before the tour, he got the highlight re-done into a streak of blueish-turqoise. I've heard a story about how he received a beautiful blueish-turqoise feather from a fan that he later took to his favorite LA-based hairdresser. He asked his hairdresser to make his highlight look exactly like that feather. That must be some hairdresser he has, because the result is stunning. Or was stunning, as the streak has later faded into light green nearing the end of the Idol tour.

This is him during the Top 36 :

Hay, bb, hay! Lovin' that brand new blue so much~

Sometimes he dons a bouffant (or what's more famously dubbed as "the Elvis hair") like this.

I'm still not a fan of his Elvis hair, but UNF UNF UNF. Also, that's a bondage gear around his wrist...

Or like this, which I think I can learn to like since it's just so damn haaaawt~

DAAAYUUUM!

But this is definitely my all-time favorite!

Brb, jizzing in my pants~

There's also some talk about his highlights (and a camera dive right into his hair asdfawfaosjfwiae) here in this interview.

His Fashion

The day he creates his own clothing line will be the day I really regret I'm not a man, because his fashion sense is FIERCE AS HALE and I'll feel sorry for my life if I can't wear his designs. I know he's focusing on music right now, but it doesn't seem too far-fetched for him to dabble in this industry some time in the future. Former judge Paula Abdul once said that he has the knack to "marry fashion with music", which basically describes what he is, really. I mean, just look at him! He looks epic in everything...
From casual chic...

...to red carpet couture...

...to 70's disco drag queen extravaganza...

...to sexy cabaret look...

...to glittery magical unicorn prince ensemble...

...to dandy chic... (SHOULDER ARMOR + CHAINMAIL TUNIC FTW OMGGGG ALSDFASJDFLA!!)...

...to the fierce alien Jesus of Rock accoutrements.

I admit, I just need an excuse to post his pics :P But this guy really does love his outfits, it's ridiculous. Before the Idol Live! tour started, the press would ask what he'd be mostly excited about from the tour, and he'd always say, "My jacket!" or "Lots of lights and fogs and cool costumes!". And then he'd get all giddy and enthusiastic as hale...and it'd be so damn cute. More indepth, life-changing fashion talk is in this interview with Radar's Ben Aaron (hoopla magnet!).

"Now I hate that phrase 'I can't pull this off'. Because the only thing you need to pull something off is you just have to want to wear it."

Seriously, you guys, this guy~ ♥♥♥

His Personality

I've been saving the best for last. This is the cherry to my pimp post beast. My favorite section ever, because even though I (thoroughly) appreciate how gorgeous he is and all, that's not the reason why I'm so emotionally invested in this guy. If he's simply the beautiful gay man with a big voice, I probably wouldn't be here writing this mothereffing wall of text. It wouldn't be worth it.

Another RS photoshot. His freckles, @God, HIS FRECKLES. I want to do all sorts of illegal things with them, not gonna lie.

Adam's personality. @God, where do I even begin? This is the guy who has single-handedly taken the art of MySpace poetry into a whole new level of awesomesauce. You guys, behold of his ~artistry~ :

Dawn

The ink of night slow dances with muddled fire.

Jagged mountain tops in a breathy mauve peak out of vague camouflage.

A crow moans in horny recovery. Rubbing a last one out amid coconut ghosts and spiderwebs.

This alley cat block still a mystery to me.

On the roof. Seeking proof.

I KNOW RITE! I CAN'T MAKE THIS UP EVEN IF I TRY. THE MIND BOGGLES AT THE BRILLIANCE. THE MIND ALSO PONDERS ABOUT THE ALLEY CAT BLOCK, BUT OBVIOUSLY THE MIND LACKS THE MENTAL SOPHISTICATION REQUIRED TO INTERPRET THE TRUE ESSENCE OF ITS ~MYSTERY~.

Seriously, though, my heart grows ten times larger at the thought of him. And while we wait for it to return to its normal size, let's see what the other Top 10 contestants think of him :

Allison : Adam Lambert has to be the most crazy, outgoing, awesome, sweetest guy you can ever meet.
Kris : He's fun to be around, really easy to talk to, and just always there for everyone else.
Matt : I love hanging out with Adam because he's so funny and he has so many different impressions. He's just great. He's like one of the coolest people.
Anoop : And he's also one of the most truthfuls. I mean, he will tell you exactly what he thinks and it's so nice to have someone that is unfiltered like that.
Michael : He's always got good things to say about everything that he's faced with. No matter what we're doing in the day, he's thinking about it in the positive way.
Lil : I'm having a hard day or so, I just go to him or he comes to me and his first question is "Are you alright?"
Megan : Adam is different in his style and the way he carries himself and the singing voice.
Scott : He has quite the vibrant personality. I don't think I would've been as fun as Adam.
Gokey : We're here to have fun and it's fun to work with him. He just brings out the best in people.

I've heard somewhere (Idolatry interview aaaaand.... dammit, I forgot where else, but I'm pretty sure there are others) that he's the person the other contestants go to when they need advice or help. Like the counselor of the Idols. We know from the show that he helped with the other contestants' song choices from time to time (He helped Allison with Cry Baby, and even though he said Kris didn't really need his help, I heard it was Adam who suggested Kanye West's Heartless to Kris. But I've never seen the source of this info myself, so take it with a grain of salt :P). Well, from what Anoop, Lil and Kris said about him, it's really not a wonder why people come to him for help.

I also love the fact that he always gives credits to the people who help him with music arrangements on the show, on tour and even on that one-song performance in Good Morning America, earlier this August. When the judges were showering him with praises, he would take the time to give a shout-out to Ricky Minor or Michael Orland (AI music directors) and the band (Mother Fucking Band FTW!)

Adam spent some time chatting with fans on the Mother Fucking Band live chat before a tour show.

Here's an example. This Chadd Pitt guy, a reporter from a Memphis radio, goes unprepared. He is supposed to interview Kris Allen, but ends up with Adam. The interview is excruciating, as he keeps asking seriously outdated questions. But Adam keeps things casual and asks to talk about more current topics, as Pitt is losing his shit. Later on, Pitt says Adam stay to sit with him for another 10 minutes after the interview and they talk like old friends ♥

Here's another example, an old interview from the day after the Finale. This interviewer girl is sooooo nervous, she borders on being rude and annoying. Adam keeps his cool and answers the questions with genuine interest. He seems to understand how nervous she is, because at the end of the video, he laughs and and strokes the girl's back sympathetically. I simply have no words to explain just how awesome I find that little gesture is...

He's always respectful to everyone, from the people he works with to the media to the fans he meets during the tour. In every tour review and interview I've read, I've never found anyone who has met him that doesn't think highly of him. In every Meet & Greet he's in during the tour, people always say how he takes the time to actually talk to fans and take pictures with them. He looks you in the eyes when he talks to you and genuinely appreciates the gifts he receives from fans (except in the case of a 4-feet tall blown-up kangaroo that I will talk more about later. But then he promotes an amazing children charity program as a way for fans to better spend their money on, so at least something good actually came out of that giant kangaroo fuckery XDDD)

If you've read this far, you'd probably think that this Adam Lambert guy is an angel sent from above to save the human kind from their dark and dreary fate. No, that's David Archuleta. Adam Lambert is no angel. He's the "glittery alien from Planet Fierce", according to Neil, his younger brother (who also wrote on his blog that Adam is "the human equivalent of a flying Ferrari", which is uncannily spot-on). It appears that snark and wit run deep in the Lambert household. You can enjoy a good deal of them on Neil's blog. We're not sure if Leila also shares this delightful trait, but here's a collection of Eber Lambert's (Adam's dad) comments on one of Neil's blog posts.

One of the earliest public displays of snark on Adam's part that I remember is when he was asked to comment on Clay Aiken's thought of the Ring of Fire performance.

Last week, Aiken took to his official fan site to post that Lambert's rendition of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" -- in the only episode of the Fox series he watched all season -- made his ears bleed.

"Contrived, awful, and slightly frightening," Aiken writes. "Just not my cup of tea at all." A day later, he apologized for his comments: "I do apologize to Adam for my colorful (and negative) choice of words. I hope he can forgive me."

Lucky for Aiken, Lambert doesn't seem to mind.

"If he wants to ride my coattails about it, good for him," Lambert said before giving Aiken a thumbs-up sign. (From usmagazine.com)

Adam Lambert is so glam, he ejaculates glitter in streams of sparkly rainbows.

Another pds of epic (and Kradam-y) proportion happened during the American Top 40 Show, where both Kris Allen and Adam Lambert were the hosts. Mind you, this happened after Adam's confession in RS that he had a crush on Kris. During the whole radio show, Kris were teasing Adam with a lot of careless flirting. After Pitbull's I Know You Want Me was played, Kris said  "That song takes on a whole new meaning being in the room with you... Adam", to which Adam replied, "That's what your wife said." ZIIIIING!

My love for those two knows no shaaaame. Anyway...

What I love the most about him is the fact that he's so unfiltered. It's refreshing for a new star in the industry to have the guts to say what he really thinks. That's what makes him so real, so genuine. Being that unfiltered can be a double-edged sword. It means that sometimes he says self-incriminating things. Even the good things he says can be easily misinterpreted, which is why the rumor of him being a diva never really dies down.

Look at this GQ mofo! Passing out on the floor of the van like that! DIVAAAA!!

The Holy Bible of Planet Fierce (and by that, I meant the Rolling Stone interview) is probably the best source for his unfiltered-ness. He was shockingly open about the discovery of his sexuality, about his past use of drugs, the topic of bisexuality and his aversion of being the poster child of the GLBT movement.

Another source is  his Twitter. He doesn't tweet much, and in the few times he does, he mostly just thanks the fans for their support and promotes other artists' music he knows or likes. But sometimes, we'll get gems like these :

So - when I read lame, boring tweets I call them TWATS.
2:13 AM Jul 8th from TwitterFon

Twitter is full of twats. Hahaha
2:13 AM Jul 8th from TwitterFon

Anyone that found that offensive should best lighten up a bit. It's funny.
2:33 AM Jul 8th from TwitterFon

Or these :

Hey guys. I have gotten a few negative messages about not signing autographs. Sorry If anyone is dissapointed.
9:16 PM Aug 9th from TwitterFon

I feel bad but please understand that I try to give you guys 110% on stage. Your ticket is to see us perform! Entitlement is not sexy...
9:21 PM Aug 9th from TwitterFon

I Loooooooooove and am deeply grateful to my fans who made idol a dream come true. I feel that I express that love in my performance.Thank u

9:24 PM Aug 9th from TwitterFon

Thanks to those of you who "get it" You guys are so rad. The messages were really thoughtful. A few of you need to quit being so negative. 9:38 PM Aug 9th from TwitterFon

Sorry, that was kinda tl;dr. But I want to show the whole series of tweet so you'll get the whole context :P

Another one, if you will! This is an excerpt from his interview by Velocity Live Radio :

"There’s a lot of very interesting fan encounters…very, very overzealous fans, and I love them all. They’re super supportive, and they obviously put me where I am. You know, if it weren’t for these fans, I wouldn’t have gotten as far as I did. Um, sometimes…they’re a little sweaty. A little smelly, [...] very touchy feely. And some of the gifts are interesting. You know, I got like an inflatable kangaroo at one point, four feet tall…and I kind of was like, ok, well…thank you, this is sweet, what the fuck am I going to do with this?…Put it in the corner, yeah…and I don’t have a lot of room on the bus."

HAHAH. Obviously, that didn't go so well with some of the fans. More "What a diva!" tirade ensued in the form of hateful comments and tweets, to which he tongue-in-cheek-ly responded with :

You smell... Like roses!!!! :)
9:31 AM Aug 22nd from TwitterFon

OH ADAM. Sometimes I worry alot about you. I think I understand how Leila felt after she read that RS interview, where he shared the drugs abuse and LA raver part of his life to the general public.

But then again, he also does this...

A bunch of Westboro Baptist Church activists protested against homosexuals and Jewish people right outside the show, prompting ontd_ai, other fan groups and tons of people who support the No Hate Campaign to trend #GodHatesHate. It became the #1 trending topic within an hour and lasted until after the show was over. This tweet from Adam was in response to that.

Make of that what you will. These are a few of the things that make up the person that is Adam Lambert. There is so still much more to this man than what my post could ever do justice. This is the guy who has been fighting his "ugly duckling syndrome" throughout his younger years and struggling to make it big among the sea of wannabes and broken dreamers of West Hollywood during his adult life. He used to be lost, like the rest of us, knowing what he wanted but not what he should do to get it. He's had his share of prejudice and demeaning jobs, of hard times when he couldn't even afford his rent or food. And now here he is, a misfit in the mainstream world, who is perfectly aware of all his imperfections. With all this baggage, and some glitter around his eyes, he's now trying to break through. It's a beautiful process to witness. I'm so damn glad I get to experience him from the start.

Okay, bear with me now as I unleash my corny, cliched adoration in full force. Insert some plinky-plunky dramatic background music here for full effect :P

To me, personally, he's the best inspiration that has ever come into my life. Just by being himself. Just by existing. Watching him is like getting a hard slap on my face. He helps me embrace my own imperfections so then I can focus on the good things I actually have. The first time I saw his Crazy & Zodiac Show's Crawl Thru Fire videos, I put on my running shoes and went out to run at 4 AM. Granted, it was probably the UST that drove me out into the cold, cold morning, LMAO, but I've been keeping up with it until now. This probably doesn't mean anything to other people, but I used to hate doing healthy stuff. I used to not give a fuck for my health or my appearance. This is the first time I'm taking care of myself not because so guys can like me, but so I can like me. He's the perfect example of the fact that you don't need to be picture-perfect to be so fucking fabulous. You just need to feel comfortable with yourself. This is what I'm aiming for.

His genuine personality, his bluntness, his unapologetic behaviors also motivate me to be braver about some issues in my life that I've just realized I've been avoiding. I'm now taking baby steps to address these issues and make peace with myself. There's never been anyone else that has this much power over me. Not anyone in real life, nor other people I've ever been a stan for. His life fascinates me to no end. He pushes me to do something good with my own. Seriously, is there really a better birthday present anyone could ever have? Thank you, Adam, for giving me an amazing start to my 30-something years.

At his core he is the hardest thing to come by in pop culture : a genuinely free-spirited, easygoing flower child who prizes love over money, peace over power. - Rolling Stone.

"I still have moments when I think 'my skin is terrible, and I'm a little fat.' But for the most part, when I look in the mirror, I finally see somebody who can do something cool." - Adam on himself, Rolling Stone interview

I LOVE THIS MAN SO FUCKING MUCH.
