Yesterday was my first skate on my new Skorpions. Okay, maybe calling it a "skate" is a bit of an exaggeration. It was more of a sporadic lurching interspersed with panicky arm movements and clutching onto nearby walls.

See, regular quad skates have small wheels which are all directly under the foot. My Skorpions have big-ass quadline wheels, which are on the outsides of the foot. Also the brake is in the rear instead of on the front. Check it out: http://www.skorpion.com/quadline-urban/intro_2.htm It feels totally different skating on them, hence the lurching. Balance, skating stroke, turning: all completely different. So, more practice today and every day.

They are easy to get on and off (and how much fun is it to put skates on over my shoes like when I was a tiny kid?) and have a nice smooth roll to them. I can see how much fun it is going to be to fly down the sidewalk once I master the suckers!
