I didnt think the article on athiesm had much of a point at all. It says that doubt is rational for one thing, but it doesnt give any real reasons to doubt any part of the bible. Ok, so you weren't alive, back 2000 years ago, but there is as much evidence backing the scriptures as there is backing anything else from that time. No, you can't find clear evidence that the red sea was parted, but why should you? What would you expect to find that would prove that to you? A video tape? No, people would accuse it of being forged ( ... )

I have to say, you brought up some interesting points, but, I still dont completly agree. While it is true that the whole concept behind religion is faith, and you cannot have faith (at least in the classic sence) in something that has been scientifically proven, since then it would be fact. I also understand that the stories and examples contained in the Bible are simply an idea, or a guidline for which one can lead their life. However, my main problem with religion is the fact that people take it to extremes. If you dont have religious conservatives trying to run the country the way they see fit, you have Islamic jihadists trying to blow everything up. People need to take religion for what it is, a guidline...not a strict rule. Suprisingly, I think the Kevin Smith film, Dogma said it best ( ... )

Yeah, I see what your saying about people taking things to extremes. Actually though, most of those people aren't even following things in the bible. (cant speak for islam). For instance, Catholics have a lot of little practices and rules that aren't mentioned in the bible. For instance, priests not getting married. It's their own idea. The bible never says not to get married. And you probably know all about the stuff back in Martin Luther's time about paying to save someone. Some of those religious extremists are crazy, but they don't usually know what their talking about ( ... )

right...I know that not everything can be right, but religious people should follow a 'live and let live' rule. Even if you may think another religion is wrong, still understand that somoene, for some reason, thinks its right, and thats OK. Like you said, you shouldnt force someone to agree with you.
