Drunk || Drabble

Summary Adachi helps Dojima get home.

"Whoa, Dojima-san-- be careful--" came the overenthusiastic voice of one young detective, with a supportive arm placed to hold his superior, Dojima, up.
It had been a long day. Dojima flicked impatiently at Adachi's ear and made a strange noise that resembled something between a tut and a hiccup. "Stupid brat," he growled, stumbling over a piece of broken brick and forcing Adachi to support both his own and Dojima's weight as he attempted to right them both before falling over.
"Y-yeah, I know," Adachi responded quickly, hoping to skip the lecture he knew was about to come his way. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on his side that night. Not that it ever was. "I've been on the force longer than you 'n him put together-- wait-- how old're you?" Dojima pointed a sloppy hand into Adachi's face which caused the young detective to pull back slightly. "Twelve?"
"I'm twenty-four, Dojima-san... Come on, you know that..." He mumbled exasperatedly, his hands falling somewhat against Dojima's side. It wasn't like he was the only one to have a drink tonight. "Young-- like that brat. S'like taking orders from a kid in preschool. Whatever happened to respect yer fuckin' elders? Jeez." By this time, Dojima had mostly begun talking to himself about technicalities and long winded stories of 'back in his day'. Adachi listened intently-- or tried to-- it was hard to pick up half the words he slurred out. He even added in an enthusiastic, "Yes sir," "No sir," "I don't think so, sir," to places where appropriate-- and it was when he saw the Dojima's residence that he held back a sigh.
The old man was getting heavier and heavier the further they walked. Adachi struggled to pull Dojima into him again, his arms feeling tired and his legs feeling heavy. At least he'd be able to shove him down upon the sofa. "You're home now, Dojima-san."
Dojima grunted in reply and flicked Adachi's ear again. He took it as a thanks.
