albany game by game 1-7

Up at 3am on Thursday, drove to Utica, where mthgeek handed me off to spherulitic, thus saving me a few hours of extra car time and the cost of a room for an additional night. We did words, watched Jeopardy, ate italian food, and I crashed pretty hard thanks to the car trip and antibiotics.

Up around 830 on Friday, Dunkin Donuts, drove to Albany. Everyone else played an EB. I wandered around, napped, studied, worked out, and watched Les Mis in concert on public television (and was still distraught that a Jonas brother was allowed to be in it). My big goal this year is not to do as bad as last year, and not to break out crying in the middle. These seem like small goals. Dinner at Vans? I think so. Vietnamese crispy duck. Nom.

vs cecilia - vs stefan - vs richard

  • i don't shake the rust off my game/cobwebs out of my head until i hit the clock on the next to last move, which was the difference between finding my out in two and winning or losing and feeling pretty dumb. play!

  • fairly straightforward game, decent racks. we both bingo bango (SLEAVING and CHADARIM for me, ELOIGNER and UNFRAMEd for him), he gets RENAILS opening the triple lane, i answer with SCoUTER for more.

  • let's not even speak of the WINDCAGE* game. i refuse to quackle it.
bedtime. i stay up later than i mean to watching people play Things. Maybe. My memory is fuzzy.

  • quackle says i played okay, but i just wasn't gonna win this one. play!

  • nothing much to see here. my tiles came together, his didn't.

  • the opposite of the last game. meh. play!
  • twice in a row i watched my opponents march through the power tiles while i struggled, and i got really down about it, and tunnicliffe had all the goodies that went well on the board. i can't read my scoresheet and have no idea how this ends, so no gcg for you.
lunch break and i am 2-5, which is still better than last year's 1-6 so I'm trying to keep it together. We're doing a round robin this year, too, so there's less feeling like you're stuck at the bottom, playing the other people at the bottom, for better or worse.

lunch was tasty latin american (according to yelpers, ecuadorian) food at mr pio pio.

gcg, albany
