It's a bit overdue, omg.
First of all, Hannelore and Winslow are from the webcomic,
Questionable Content, which everyone should read. That said, everything I link to under the cut comes pretty late in the strip, since Hanners is only in the last few hundred strips, so please be aware that if you pick up from any strip I link to, there may be spoilers.
Anyway, onwards.
About Hannelore
Hannelore Ellicott-Chatham started as the upstairs neighbor of Marten Reed and Faye Whitaker (and Pintsize, but more on him in a second), the central characters of the webcomic. Hannelore debuted in strip
515, in which Marten drunkely stumbled into the ladies' room and Hannelore struck up a conversation. (Of course, she had been stalking Marten and Faye for a couple weeks, but pfff, details.)
Hannelore has severe obsessive-compulsive disorder. She's a chronic insomniac (though she routinely falls asleep on Marten's couch - and if I can find a gig like that in Fandom, I'll be giddy) because she can't sleep if everything isn't in order, or else she
counts the hairs on her head or
vacuums or finds some way to occupy her time. She's really a little bit creepy.
She also has
very wealthy, but estranged parents. She grew up in a space station owned by her father, but moved to Earth for the therapy.
In addition to Winslow, Hannelore has a Roomba - a robo-vacuum. (Something that actually exists in our world! Neat!) The Roomba has no name (well, Winslow calls it Spot once, but I don't think that counts), but has shown some
unusual behavior. Male visitors, ye be warned.
And speaking of the fellas, Hannelore is appreciative of the male form, certainly (she has
erotic dreams about Indiana Jones Illinois Smith), but she mostly thinks that sex is
unsanitary. I feel that perhaps, Hanners' soulmate is Adrian Monk, and they can fold things and vacuum together at opposite ends of a spacious white room. In all seriousness, Hannelore's only shot of hooking up with anyone might be if she was drunk, since she's done some pretty
wild stuff while under the influence. I'm pretty sure that canonically, she has a little bit of a crush on Marten because he's secure, clean-looking and it's entirely chaste. So we'll see what happens in Fandom.
About Winslow
Winslow is Apple's answer to the AnthroPC. In QC-land, there are weetiny robots running about - they're walking, talking computers with distinct personalities. It's not set in the future, but there are advanced technological elements.
Anyway, Winslow is very naive and sweet, for the most part. He can get
talked into things by Pintsize, Marten's AnthroPC, For the most part, Winslow is just sort of an innocent, well-spoken little friend for Hannelore.
About Progressive Numbers, Inc.
So, canonically, Hannelore supports herself by
counting things. No, seriously.
And I've brought that to Fandom. The name is courtesy of
clipboard_fu, and I may get jossed yet, but everything else is canon. The website that Hanners mentioned still exists (called www.progressivenumbersonline.com, and that may be taken for all I know but I also don't care) and it will be available in addition to her actual physical business.
Students, teachers and townies - if you have something to count, I'll make posts on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and you can also leave Hannelore a
voicemail or
email via the website to commission a counting, and we can work from there.
