So was in London on Sunday night for the Head Charge gig, which fucking rocked!
The venue was moved from the Garage to the Mean Fiddler, which i didnt know how to get to either, so didnt matter. Me and the scag and Maggie went up early, had BK munchies before meeting up with Mike. Some bimbling later meant we met up with another random midget alcoholic Latvian. Do they make any other kind im beginning to wonder? Went tut pub before walking to the venue from Waterloo. Collected the Hairy Love Wookie + Rob on the way, and went into the queue. We were also supposed to collect a random online type as well, but he was already at the front of the queue so we organised to meet inside. MadDave was accosted by the scag who attempted to make him look like
Dargo using just 2 hair bands. It didnt really
work out though. Much more spamming of the camera came about (Pics lower down) to amuse us as we waited, and we were joined by Needs and his friend Trudy. The doors opened late but we got in in good time once they were open. Got in, put my bag away and went in search of the Azrael/Phil, who had organised to meet us in the upstairs right hand bar. Which we quickly discovered had no lighting. Wicked. Spent a few minutes looking for him before we went with Plan B, which was "Fuck it, look for him later" and headed back to the much l337er bar that not only had working lights, but had a Space Invaders arcade machine. \m/
The support band, Panic Cell, came on, and some people wandered down to the main pit area to watch em. We hung around watching for the Az a bit longer, but gave up and then went down a few songs in. Panic Cell were really good live, very impressed. Dave bought me a copy of their album, which while it has good songs on does sound a lil demo-ish in places. The guys voices in places on the album doesnt sound too hot, but live his voice was excellent, covering a large range for lengths. A few stand out songs such as "Save Me" had the place merrily bouncing as a warm up. Just after the end of their set, i was accosted by a random stranger who proclaimed himself as a Phil. It soon became evident that one of the probs of looking for him was also the fact he looked nothing like his photo, so i was looking for someone else. Arse. But we met up, which was cool, and then he had to depart back to the peoples he came with.
From the moment Head Charge started playing they showed a massive amount of aggression and passion, like they were trying to beat every last part of the song out for us. They alternated between old and new songs, covering the best of the new album, along with all the best of the old album which was cool. Mosh pit really got going, and the venue was so small we could see easily and were really close up. Needs wandered into the pit at one point and promtly came back looking bruised and ill. Fool. Several times Martin jumped into the crowd to sing, and at one point stuck the microphone out over the crowd to let everyone else sing. Lazy bastich.
All in all was awesome, set seemed to be cut a bit short though, there was no 'Cowards', 'Violent Reaction' or 'Ridicule'. They finished on 'Seamless' and *poof* they were gone. Ahh well, twas a good night.
Piccies now.
Disturbing. MadDave, Phizrael and me. Needs looks like a mannequin here. Dunno, some random pair of scags. All Da Boyz! "Have you any idea what its like to be me?
Watching you succeed and move forward?
All my wasted time, tensing in anticipation,
My thought processes foregone and worthless.
Safe, when nobody is in your heart now,
Take, everything you can get your hands on,
Save me,
Save me from this yearning yet again
