In this post, I will give brief summaries of the posts I've made in my head for the past week and a half, which never made it onto the computer.
Sunday, May 14: Visions of Bubbles and Sakura Blossoms; A report on my weekend mainlining shoujo manga (Ouran, Koukou Debut, Gokinjo Monogatari, and Paradise Kiss).
Tuesday, May 16: The Fandom Bicycle; Gauging interest and gathering ideas for an Uchiha Sasuke Fuh-Q Fest. (This idea has been scrapped due to personal laziness, if you were wondering.)
Wednesday, May 17: Hey, I Don't Cook, Alright?; In which I am inordinately pleased with myself for being able to make onigiri, one of the simplest dishes in Japan.
Thursday, May 18: Time Travel Paradoxes are Sexy; I'm on a bit of an AU/time travel/dimension-altering kick at the moment. Stories that will probably never make it to paper:
(1) 1602 - Nick Fury and Rojhaz/Captain America after they return to Cap's dystopian timeline (which Marvel has designated Earth-460). They would gather up heroes in hiding or free them from custody and form a rebellion against President-for-Life Killgrave. (Major drawback to this story: having to do research on Purple Man.)
(2) Naruto - Sasuke goes back in time with the intention of killing his brother, he ends up in Kakashi Gaiden-era, things don't go as planned with the whole Itachi thing. There is a SasuObi relationship, I think. I'm still working out the details on this one, but once Kakashi pulled out the dimension-altering powers of his Mangekyou Sharingan I think the opportunity for this was opened (as in there really aren't any limits on the power a Sharingan-wielder possesses).
(3) Bleach - I was thinking about a story in which Orihime's time/dimension altering powers were used to alter the timeline, etc. but now it's looking like the manga might be going in that general direction. In any case, I wouldn't want to write this now with us being so close to learning more about Orihime's powers.
Saturday, May 20: A Slow Boat to China; I really enjoyed Naomi Novik's Throne of Jade. Someone needs to write Laurence/Granby or Laurence/Riley, or both.
Sunday, May 21: A Day in the Life of a Psychopath; A pimp post on Empire. I might still do this post, because I want everyone to read it. But I'd like to make it a proper post with uploads, but I read it in trade paperback, and all the torrents I can find for it are dead. Short pimp: Empire, a comic miniseries by Mark Waid and Barry Kitson is fucking awesome. It's about a traditional sort of comics supervillain who actually manages to conquer the world, and explores what he does afterwards. Read it.
Tuesday, May 23: The Longest Day of My Life; I reminisce about how awesome the first season of 24 was, and rant about how mediocre this season was. Then I veer off into political ramblings, specifically the way I feel most governments treat their citizens like small children.
Wednesday, May 24: So, what are Your Thoughts on Yaoi?; I discover that while I have always thought of myself as operating from more of a slash framework in fiction, there are some pairings where my brain really still thinks about it in a seme x uke sort of dynamic. I'm still working out how I feel about this in terms of my personal ethics and politics, and how much overlap I think there should be between one's fictional kinks and one's personal ideologies.
OK, now I resolve to make actual posts in the future. I think they're somewhat more gratifying than just talking to myself in the kitchen about fandom.
