Okay, I admit it...I was an ocean snob. I did not believe that a lake cold capture my heart the way the ocean does. This weekend Dre took me out to Kalamazoo to see some friends and to celebrate Deats' B-day. Deats is my Michigan Doppelganger. We happily packed up the pup, who is growing every moment, and went out to party. O'Malley met Radar, Deats' neurotic whippet mix and spent some time with the children of Deats' house before we went out for the grown up party. We went to a lovely home with a nice pool and a GIANT Great Dane. Bronco's head is bigger than O'Malley. He was wonderful with her. Both Radar and Bronco chased our little one around. At one point, O'Malley was stalking us in the pool (no dogs allowed) and she huffed when we told her "no" and then flung herself down to pout. The only problem was that she was on a slippery edge of the pool and so she fell in. We camped out next to a bonfire and the litte one was all tuckered. The next day, Deats and her Jess and Todd (the couple with the Great Dane) accompanied us for an amazing breakfast in K-zoo.
THEN we drove out to the lake.
Deats' family friends have a huge house overlooking the lake and a private beach access. They let us use it so we could bring the dogs. Oh my god! It was breathtaking! The beaches were pure sand and the water, crystal blue. We had a blast. Radar and O'Malley both swam and we got to play around on the shore and in the refreshingly cool water. It was an amazing day.
I admit it.....these lakes ARE Great ones!
