WOW!!!!
Really what can I say other than I had the BEST vacation EVER this past new years in the greatest city on earth with my sister and Jake! I attempted to take a drunen list of shit we did on a coffee filter. I will try my best to go over each day with the notes I have and what I remember--Bookmark this one, cuz its going to be a long entry...
Wednesday:
We left my house in Rochester around 6AM even though our target time was 5AM -- but that's to be expected hehe. The drive to Poughkeepsie was plesant. Chrissy (my sis) and I slept mose of the way while Jake the snake stayed the course. We arrived at the Metro North station only to have just missed a train, which meant we would have to wait for another 45 minutes or so. But that was fine cuz we were pumped to be out of the car and go to the bathroom and get food etc. We boarded onto the train into NYC and Jake was pumped, as were we, but this was his first train ride. He had his sneaky camera out and ready to snap pictures of various things that we passed on our journey into the city. I Will include a link to the pictures later on in this entry. We arrived at Grand Central station around 4PM. As always you get such a rush the second you step into that beautiful station. We gathered our luggage and hailed a cab to take us to my sisters apartment. Once we got there we had to walk up five flights (that are really like 10) because the stairs or much longer than in normal flights. We gathered our breath and opened the door to my sisters $2,100/month east village manhattan apartment. This thing was pretty small! I'm talking TINY...reason why I could never live there, but it's a great place to visit, I just wouldn't pay $2,100/mo for a place that is maybe 200 sq ft!!! We still had a couple hours to kill before our reservations at Benihana--Japanese hibachi restaurant where they cook the food at your table. So we walked around her neighborhood where it was 60+ degrees!!! Made me not miss Buffalo/Rochester one bit :) We got some groceries and then made our way to a bar to pregame for a drink. We went to a bar where my sis knows one of the 'tenders. This will be a reoccuring theme...So we drank and went to dinner.
Dinner at Benihanna's was OK...I think that the Plum Garden in Rochester is WAY better, but my sister had a good point, people in Roc take their kids to Chuck E Cheese's when its their B-day, in NYC its Benihana's. There were like 20 B-days!! But the food was superb, service was OK...a diappointment for a manhattan restaurant.
After dinner we went to another bar that was a lot more low scale and quiet. Had a couple of drinks and then headed back to the apt. early cuz we had an early day the next day. Jake and I had to share the bed together while my sister slept on her futon...it was interesting lol...
