The theme for today's live journal posts seems to be what we all did last night around the time of the debate. Like many people, Ebs and I decided to visit the Democratic rally for the next President of the United States, John Kerry. So, we get there, we take out our tickets, and we see that they are seperating people based on what kind of tickets they have. Ok, that's fair, people with blue tickets on the left, people with white tickets on the right. We have white tickets so we go to the right. We come with in viewing range of the stage, we are excited. Then, we run head long into a steel barrier. This is as close as we can get. There is no place to sit, and the stage is a good hundred yards away, barely visible over a small hill. We decided instead to go watch the debate at Wells Fargo Arena here on campus. There were no Foo Fighters, but the debate veiwing was fun. The crowd was bi-partisan, so it made things very interesting. Aftewards we returned to the Kerry rally. By now people had crowded the small hill and the stage was no longer visible. We decided to again leave, and were just making our way through the crowd, when Kerry showed up, and the crowd froze in place. So we watched Kerry give his speech on a TV screen, excruciatingly aware that if the crowd on the top of the hill (which I have since learned may have included some people I know) would just move their asses, or at least sit down, we would be able to see the future president.

All in all the night was not a waist though, saw some protests, chatted with Dan Smith, and went to see Garden State afterwards. That was a kick ass movie, but still a tad shy of the hype I've been hearing about it. Hopefully when Kerry is safely in office he will return to the state of Arizona, and will host a rally at a better venue than stupid ass Tempe Beach Park.

Stay Cool People.
