Last night was WONDROUS! We didn't even have any place to stand. Had to be 60 people in and out of that place.
I did a full feature-length set of three haiku cycles (one about the new Stephen King book, one about working at the library, and one about weathermen) that went off smashingly well. I started with the Stephen King set, then the weathermen set, then the library set. I probably had about 80 haiku, give or take.
The deathmatch was also awesome (Rachel Wiley won). Mulatto battle on top of mullatto battle!
It's funny how the form fits some people so well, better than longer poems in some cases. Miranda did a bellydance shimmy! She would never do that any other time. Even the pinch haikuists were on point. People showed up that hadn't been to a night (or at least a Wednesday night) in, like, a year. A ton of new people. The show started at 8 and really didn't stop until 11. THAT'S a lot of haikus, son.
