Since we're talking movies anyway, how about The Road?

I needed to wash Avatar off of me, so I went to see what is probably the anti-thesis to Avatar: less than two hours, cheap by comparison, muscular acting, and largely devoid of cliche. I did read the book this year, en route to Nationals, and as a fan of post-apocalyptica, I found it almost unbearably bleak, even for the genre. But it is brilliantly written, and not boring at all, despite the utter lack of a landscape. I'm glad that Hollywood didn't get tempted to throw more Mad Max in there, though I'm sorry to hear that those grisly cannibal moments that punctuated the grey doldrums of the story are lacking.

Good luck getting to it. The sat it on a shelf for a year, then released in one theater per continent. I had to go to the Lennox and it was only showing four shows a day. I don't know if it will make it to next weekend in this town.
