I take it back: the poem I finished this morning - "The Barbecue Zodiac and Astrology Menu" - will be the longest original poem I've ever performed publicly. Comes in just under 15 minutes, at 8 pages, 299 lines, over 1900 words.
Next time I'll be shooting for a 60-minute poem. If I had another week without interruptions, I could do it. Next time.
It occurs to me that this event is probably one of VERY few places you can get away with reading more than one poem of this length in this day and age.
