Dear LJ Genie: Rock Band!
snarkyshark2 and I need your advice on obtaining Rock Band (2?). The most advanced gaming system we own is a Playstation 1 (yes, 1!), so we need to get that, as well. What is the cheapest and best way to go

The Wii just recently has the ability to download songs, but it's sketchy. PS3 gets them a few days after it is released on the Xbox 360.
I like Rock Band 1's solo mode better, but Rock Band 2 has a better band mode. The great thing about Rock Band 2 is that for a $5 fee and temporary use of a Rock Band 1 CD is that you can upload all the Rock Band 1 songs onto the hard drive to use with Rock Band 2.
I haven't finished Guitar Hero World Tour, but there is some Tool and a few other songs not in Rock Band I liked. I like the Rock Band series a lot more though.
If downloading songs isn't that big of a deal, you may want to get a Wii for the games. Wii has some good party and Mario games. Xbox 360 has tons of first person shooters and other awesome Mature titles with a few party games as well.
Grab a bundle with a guitar, mic, and drums, then ebay a second guitar. You might be able to find a deal on a used set of Rock Band 1 drums after people upgraded to Rock Band 2, GHWT, or the Drum Rocker.
I haven't heard anything positive about Rock Revolution, so avoid.
