Back to normal.. or as normal as I get

All,

Sorry I have not updated my journal since the end of July. I have lots of news so here goes...

1) On Sunday (July 30), Nancy and I got together and talked. It was a really good talk. She explained that ultimately the problem she was having was I was giving mixed messages. I would say one thing, but then my actions from time to time would not be the same. She gave me a few examples (like meeting with some of the people that went on my last dive trip, but not inviting her). We talked about it and I understand now what she is looking for from me in that department. We have made up and are doing pretty well. Maybe this is just the way we fight. I don't know, but I'm happy to be back with her.

2) Last weekend (8/4) Nan and I went up to Napa. It was a really nice weekend. We did the wine train on Friday night. It was a great time. The food was really good, and we had a nice bottle of wine while we watched the Napa Valley cruse by. On Saturday we went to a couple of films at the Napa Film Festival. I'm not sure we will ever go back for the film festival. It's not that the films were bad, it was that it was such a poorly run thing. For example, the first film started an hour late because of technical problems. I can forgive that but the evening's was just bad.

The evenings event consisted of showing a couple of films and had with what was billed as SF's hottest party band (Dibbs). First, Dibbs consisted of 1 guy playing an acoustic guitar. As my boss put it so well, if he would have played "Feelings" it would have been a perfect. Second, the winery was not very good. It was Rouche which is right across from Sears point. The location was VERY windy. It made hanging around outside pretty difficult which is a problem as they were going to be showing one of the films outside. Third, the schedule was to show one film in the barrel room at 7:30 and then the film we really wanted to see was supposed to start at 8:45pm. Watching the first movie in the barrel room was fine, but Nancy was starting to get cold at the end of the first film and the chairs in the barrel room were very hard. The other issue we had was the folks running the event decided to wait to show the 8:45 film it so they could show another short film before it in the barrel room. We asked when they were going to show the outside film and we really couldn't get an answer. As Nan as cold and it had been a bit of a long day we drove back to our room in Napa and called it a day. Anyway, you can imagine our disappointment. On Sunday we went to the Giants game. The Giants lost, but we still had a really good time. All in all it was a fun weekend.

3) This past Tuesday I had a phone interview with a drug software company that is currently located in Burlingame. The phone interview went well and I am going this afternoon for round 2. The company looks really good, and from what I understand about the position I'm pretty interested. I would be in charge of engineering for the entire division. The other thing is that the company is moving to Pleasanton so that will make it so the commute exactly the same as I have today.

I think that's about all the news I have. I hope that no one is having to fly for a while. I'm flying back to Colorado on Thursday (8/17), so I hope that they will have all the rules ironed out by then. If you are traveling I wish you patience and safety.

Anyway I will try to keep you all posted on what is going on better then I have the past few weeks. I hope you all are well.

Scott
