Doctor Who exhibition Glasgow

I visited the Doctor Who exhibition at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow on Saturday and all I can say is, if you live nearby, GO! If you are a fan of new Who, you'll love it. Don't do what I did and think, "I've been to the exhibition in Cardiff - it'll be the same" - it's not. I went to the exhibition in Cardiff two years ago and, I must admit, I was somewhat disappointed.

At Kelvingrove there's loads of the Doctor's friends and enemies drawn from all four series, many of which are animated. I really 'liked' the Cybermen which, though their movements were a bit clunky, sent a shiver down my spine.

I also loved the behind the scenes sections where you could see unfinished models of the Ood and a mock up of the art department office. I spent a good five/ten minutes playing 'spot the episode' with all the concept drawings and scale models.

My favourite bit though was watching all the young kids, their eyes full of wonder. When I saw one boy aged about 8 determinedly pointing his sonic screwdriver at a Dalek, as it rose up from the ground, totally oblivious to the people around him, I could feel my smile widen and I knew that RTD done good when he brought Doctor Who out from the obscurity of TV history and put it back at the centre of the Saturday schedules.

For more info on the exhibition and to buy tickets look here. The exhibition closes in Glasgow on the 4th January 2010.
